Streamlight launched the new Sidewinder Stalk during SHOT Show. This helmet light incorporates White, IR, Red, Blue and Green LEDs, all located in the head, each with low, medium, high and strobe modes.
It can also be mounted via Velcro due an adapter plate.
Although not depicted, there is also a PALS adapter for wear on armor vests and chest rigs.
Above you can see the output and battery usage specs. The Sidewinder Stalk is also IP67 Rated; dust-tight and waterproof to 1 meter for 30 minutes Meets MIL-STD-810H, Method 512.6 Immersion.
Has anyone done a side by side comparison with its Princeton Tec equivalent?
Do I read correctly this has white, blue, red, green and IR in one output system? Ok. I also see this has a separate infrared IR beacon that has MS2000 strobe beats per minute. I have several helmet lights and all seem to be in bottom of my bag. Loser.
Rotary mode selection separate from the activation switch is a good move. I hate the press-and-hold/tap-through meta that so many headlamp manufacturers have settled on. One button to do everything never quite pans out, especially with as many modes as this thing has. Multi-cell compatibility is interesting as well.
IP67 and Streamlight… It will most likely be dead after 12 months of use. I wouldnt trash my money with Streamlight or PrincetonTec, both are heavily unreliable and I had both brands and their auxiliary lights dying on me. But I hope the IR/Red/White+Green/Blue all in one device continues and we have something working and lasting in a few years.
