Stuff I Like – Wildfire GORE-TEX Men’s Shoes

I got a pair of these when Salewa first introduced the Black color. I’ve just bought my third pair on a whim when I saw them in stock at Tidewater Tactical because I was worried they’d stop making them. Much to my relief, I see that Salewa continues to offer this model and color scheme.

You’ll often see me wearing them at trade shows, particulary if it’s wet outside. That’s a pretty good testament to their comfort if I’m willing to walk around all day on concrete in them.

The Wildfire features a GORE-TEX Extended Comfort lining and POMOCA Speed MTN sole which is pretty grippy. Additionally, there is an edging zone at the toe along with lacing down to the toe so you can get by pretty well in a simple climb.

Was introduced to Salewa last year and bought the Alp Trainer 2 Mids for LE work. Well made and comfortable, but not as cushioned as some Salomons, but also not actually made for standing on pavement.
As other footwear wears out, Salewa will get a first look. My Alps are sized like Salomons.
They offer a pro discount and are also available from Expertvoice and Amazon.

Good shoes. I’ve had a pair for 6 years now and put them thru a fair bit. Very good exo-skeleton keeps them from getting saggy when soaked and as they age, it works. The heel is good on ladders and etreirs, something many approach shoes lack. Best grip in the wet ive had in any shoe. They dry fast for a shoe with padded ankles. I think they climb really well, I hate rock shoes and wear this happily up to about 5.9, 5.10 at a push. They are not speed machines, too much like an alpine boot to run about in for long, totally different sort of shoe to salamons, fair but heavier and heftier for a reason. Better than LA Boulder Xs i think because no leather to soak up water and more boot-like heel.
