Solar charging is still a novelty at this point. It simply does not produce enough electricity fast enough.

Nevermind the $243 price tag is ridiculous. You can get a portable battery with a larger total charge capacity and a superior IP raiting for a fifth of the price from Amazon.

    • Hello Yawnz, thank you for interest! We wanted to follow up and give you more information about the the solar panel.
The solar panel charges the battery, which in turn flows charge to your phone. Since the wireless output of the battery is greater than a solar panel of this compactness can produce, your phone will discharge the battery pack faster than the solar panel can recharge the battery pack. Although this means a continuous draw by the phone will reduce the power pack’s charge, the solar panel will reduce this discharge rate, and will result in extended runtimes and prolonged sustainment.

At first I thought that dropping your phone into it automatically made the battery connection but then I see the cables so it’s unclear? Being able to drop my phone into a protective battery case on my kit that automatically initiated charging while also protecting it is a worthwhile concept if no cables are involved. Having what looks like a solar panel to provide a slow continuous top off to the battery is cool idea as long as the additional cost is commensurate with the charge delivery from the panel. The press release needs more info.

    • Hi Ray Forest, we wanted to follow up and clarify the power outputs of the battery and cable.
The battery has 4x total power outputs: 3x USB ports and 1x wireless coil . This allows wirelessly charging of a phone and three other wired devices. All four outputs can be used simultaneously, meaning up to four devices can be charged from the battery pack at once.
The cable is included in the kit with the purpose of charging other peripherals and communication devices, while the phone will be charged wirelessly inside the pouch.

They also will not ship to an APO. Good luck with any gov purchases

    • Hello Doc2566,

Since the TAK Power Kit contains a battery exceeding the limits imposed by the recently published 63rd IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, it is subject to transportation restrictions, additional documentation requirements, and expensive handling fees. While we are working an overseas transport solution, ground shipping is the only option currently offered for this product.
