The Brim from nutsof

There was a time when a couple of countries issued helmet covers with integrated brims to keep the sun out of the wearer’s eyes on a sunny day. With the advent of visual augmentation systems attached to the front of helmets, those brims went away.

But not for nutsof, purveyors of the accessories you didn’t think of first. They created a brim which utilizes the helmet shroud and night vision mount.

Made from laser cut laminate stiffened with Tegris, The Brim alleviates the desire to wear a ball cap under the helmet and offers a bit more shade when tinted eye pro isn’t enough as well as some protection from rain and snow.

And yes, to cut off dumb questions at the pass, you’ll have to remove The Brim in order to use NODs. And no cares if you don’t want to buy this. But yes, you can probably make one of your own with an MRE box and 100 mile an hour tape. I’m sure it will look great.

Offered in several colors.

    Eric,

    Please make this:

“And yes, to cut off dumb questions at the pass, you’ll have to…”

A standard part of all articles to cut down on the aggravating whiners. But add one line: We don’t care if you think it costs too much.

    Yankee hat no brim

  3. Linz says:

I did this a few years ago when encountering Team Wendy Exfils.

Took the brim from a short boonie & used a bit of velcro. Also made a neck flap.

Stole the idea from the Swedes.

I absolutely love this kind of purpose driven innovation / adaptation. Plus, their attitude is great. It’ll be interesting to see what will they come up with in the future.

Better be careful, Ops-Core probably has a patent on this and will be extremely upset that you are creating something outside of their approval!
