BLACK CREEK, Ga. — Daniel Defense is proud to announce the launch of the DANIEL H9. With the thinnest profile and lowest bore axis in its class, the DANIEL H9 is designed and engineered to give shooters more control for faster, flatter shooting.
“After years of research, detailed design work, and testing, we couldn’t be more excited to launch the DANIEL H9.” Said Marty Daniel, Founder of Daniel Defense.
While sharing the ergonomics, pointability, and straight-pull trigger with the classic 1911, the DANIEL H9 has everything demanded of a modern, striker-fired handgun, like ambidextrous controls, an accessory rail, optics compatibility, and more. The aircraft-grade aluminum grip keeps the DANIEL H9 exceptionally durable and surprisingly lightweight. And, as with every Daniel, it’s all built around a cold hammer forged barrel for unparalleled precision.
It’s a revolutionary design, but a revolutionary design alone isn’t enough. The Daniel Defense handgun boasts the same legendary quality as our rifles. After over a million rounds fired in testing, the team at Daniel Defense is confident that the DANIEL H9 will carry on their reputation for building the most trusted firearms in the world.
“It wasn’t enough to just be another handgun in an already crowded market. It had to be better than anything out there. It had to redefine how people thought about handguns.” Said Rod Reasen, the CEO of Daniel Defense.
The DANIEL H9 is available for purchase today at select dealers. Visit DanielDefense.com/H9 for more details.
So Daniel must have bought rights to the failed Hudson H9?
That gun always intrigued me. Interested to see if it takes hold under DD.
Yes, DD bought rights like 4 years ago.
This is awesome. I played with one of these a few years back and loved the ergos. Hopefully with DD behind it, it’ll survive this time. Such a cool design.
Agreed. The H9, despite its issues, is an awesome pistol and definitely deserved better than the life it got.
Wow, what a totally new pistol that I’ve definitely never seen before!
And if Colin Noir is the ad man, it has to be good. Right?
Uhhhh, that looks promising.
As if a Colt 1911 had had a hot affair with a Steyr A2 pistol…
nice
Magazine is 15 rounds in case others are wondering. Don’t know why Daniel Defense isn’t advertising that more openly.
It’s mentioned several times in the full text release ad and is clearly listed on the product page… not sure how much more open they could be.
For its size (roughly Glock 19), seems pretty reasonable. The original H9 is a larger gun and still “only” had a 15rd magazine.
Because it’s pretty much standard for semi-auto 9mm pistols?
I wonder if the magazines and other components are compatible with the original.
Hudson magazines will work in the DD, but not the other way around. Demo here: https://youtu.be/3CFgphrAZxE?feature=shared&t=597
I’m a big fan of my Hudson H9. I hope Daniel Defense puts out a list of parts that are interchangeable. i’m surprised the store page for the Daniel H9 magazines doesn’t mention if they work in Hudson H9s.
Unfortunately, it sounds like there’s virtually no parts compatibility. Per James Reeve’s review (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgLKHFudbnQ), the only compatible part is the sear block spring.
I also think it is neat to see the design live on under someone who can afford to full support and refine it. I think it was neat and it is always great to see a company try something new. It was sad to see Hudson go under, but hopefully it leads to another great option. Variety is the spice of life. Hopefully it will provide part so there is some support for the originals too.
