SIG SAUER - Never Settle

ICE Renews P320 Contract Through July 2027

Despite reports to the contrary, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is not banning use of the SIG P320. In fact, according to documents obtained by Soldier Systems Daily, the agency signed a contract extension this week which is valid through 19 July, 2027.

ICE first adopted the P320 in February, 2017 for an initial five-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract which had a provision for additional option years. Previously, ICE had optioned two of those years and with this extension, uses another two.

Based on the P320 PRO, the ICE pistol’s full model number is W320CA-9-BXR3-PRO-DHS with a DHS serial number and standard slide catch (the inline PRO model uses the extended slide catch).

The pistol is also available as an ICE approved individual officer purchase through Proven Outfitters as the W320CA-9-BXR3-PRO-DHS-APP.

Update: now that the story is out, SIG has issued a press release with this statement:

“SIG SAUER is honored to continue supporting ICE in their duty to protect America and preserve national security and public safety,” said Steve Rose SIG SAUER Executive Vice President, Defense Strategies. “ICE agents work tirelessly to safeguard our nation and deserve the most tested and proven sidearm by their side – we firmly believe that is the P320.”

Not sure about this. Keeping the contract open is not the same as actually ordering more 320s. Also take into account that the sig contract has multiple other items ICE is still ordering, and this seems like Sig trying to damage control and make it appear ICE is still thrilled to be using the 320.

So you’re saying that SIG forced ICE to renew the contract?
Since they were informed by Congress that they weren’t appropriated money to replace the P320 what contract is ICE going to use to buy pistols for the new hires authorized under the Big Beautuful Act?

  2. ICE has Sig contracts for optics such as the ROMEO4T for ICE long guns. ICE also purchases P365 and MPXs.

ICE is allocated funding by congress under the BBA to further ICE’s immigration mission as ordered by the President. Part of the funding is for equipment. What equipment ICE needs to accomplish its immigration mission is up to ICE and ICE wants a new service pistol.

The decision has already been made to discontinue use of the P320 and transition to Glock 19. Contracts have already been made and are working their way through.

ICE hasn’t purchased any new P320 from Sig since 2023.

From my understanding you are correct that ICE has not purchased any complete P320s for several years but considering that this contract is well into sustainment, that makes sense. In fact, one could make the argument that since ICE hasn’t had to replace any of their P320s, they are both highly durable and reliable.

ICE may well be planning to replace the P320 after a successful seven years of use, but the point of sharing this contract action is that it completely undermines the narrative that ICE was immediately “banning” use of the P320 and adopting an alternative sidearm. Anyone who ran with that nonsense has no idea how the government does business, apparently including the author of the memo.
