Israel Buys Colt M4A1 via FMS Contract

Using a Foreign Military Sales contract announced earlier this week, the Israeli Defense Force has ordered M4A1 carbines from Colt Industries.

The contract awarded by Army Contracting Command is valued at $12.9 million and includes carbines and suppressors. It is to be fulfilled by the end of June of 2026.

    Well this is…odd.

IWI has AR offerings, I wonder why the IDF would buy Colt M4’s…unless it has to do with using leftover US Foreign Aid funds?

Buying carbines and suppressors is also interesting to me…does Colt make any suppressors? If so/if not, what suppressors will be included in this sale?

FMS sales… US taxpayer dollars > Israel through FMS > Colt > CZ

They could of at least bought LMT carbines, an actual US owned mfgr.

…”The FMS program is funded by administrative charges to foreign purchasers and is operated at no cost to taxpayers.”

    • NTX says:

I don’t think they could do that since LMT doesn’t have a contract for M4’s (so no FMS).

In theory, they could have used general Aid dollars to buy from LMT, but that would be at a higher unit price…so fewer carbines for the money.
