Does the desk pop name a nod to that movie with mark whalbarger and will farrel? We used to say to the new guys on our deployments. That it’s not an official combat tour till you get your FOB pop. Then one day we were joking around about each of our FOB pops ( that actually never happened!)and the E2 goes shit I want to get promoted to E4. So he loads a m203 on and pops one into the building. He used a smoke round, and says can I get promoted now skipping E3? We all hit him in the face took all his weapons. Someone said we should do a wood gun for him to carry. He was with us for one week. Then he did his FOB pop. Then two days later he was booted from our FOB and sent to the HHQ at BAF.
