MDM – SureFire G2XLE

This is the G2XLE, a law enforcement variant of the popular G2X flashlight from SureFire.

The G2XLE offers a two stage click-style tailcap with 400 lumens (2.25 hours) on the initial click and 15 lumens (45 hours)  on the second.   This is an upgrade from the G2X Pro which offers 360 lumens.  In addition to constant on, the click-style tailcap also offers momentary on functionality.  It’s made from aluminum (bezel and tailcap) and Nitrolon material (chassis).

At $80 full retail this is a good buy from SureFire.

Surefire’s website states that the first click is the high setting with the second click as the low, as opposed to the description here, just FYI.

Having had these in stock for about 2 months, I can tell you that they are in fact programmed for HIGH (400 Lumens) first, and LOW (15 lumens) second.

LOW does require a semi-intentional (but not rapid) second press of the tailcap. This allows for a momentary HIGH / off for a beat / HIGH again that is preferable in law enforcement (and for most users).

Wow, something useful, at a reasonable cost.

I still prefer my G2X Pro, initial low setting for admin and navigation without blinding myself, and the high has enough lumens for me – anything major goes down I jump to my M3LT

I think you’re missing the point. The standard G2X Pro is made intentionally for outdoorsmen to not loose night adapted vision by going to low first… The LE is for people that want to use the light in a possible defensive situation and as such goes to high first… Use the right tool for right job.

I wish surefire would make a tailcap that fits in between my teeth, like a soft PVC kind of pipe ending.

I find myself almost always wanting the brightness of my G2X over something like my Princeton Tac Quad-LED headlamp. I have the tailcap covered in tape, but it’s still a little too big to fit comfortably in my mouth.

I can’t be the only one who would use something like this right?
