Warrior West – NEMO Equipment Tetrapod

During last year’s Warrior East we showed you a prototype of the Tetrapod from NEMO Equipment, a hammock which allows you to lie flat.

It comes complete with tree straps and a canopy, in Alpha Green. Commercial, foreign made versions are available as well the Berry compliant model seen here.

Just when I got my hammock setup dialed in.

One potential issue I see is that the mosquito netting may come into contact with the person in the hammock.

I have Nemo stuff and I like it a lot, but how is this different from/not a ripoff of the Henessey hammock?

    • SSD says:

Perhaps the part where I said it would allow you to lie flat wasn’t blatant enough.

      • Bunn says:

No, it wasn’t. The Hennessy also allows for a nice flat lay, as well as other manufacturers such as Warbonnet. It’s cool if you are not a hammock guy and don’t really know much about them, but don’t let that jade your response.

        • SSD says:

The Hennessy doesn’t allow for a flat lay. No traditional hammock does.

          • Bunn says:

Hennessy is not a traditional hammock, they were one of the first to design and produce an asymmetric cut gathered end hammock, you know, the design that Nemo is using to get a flat lay. FYI, Hennessy does not make a single “traditional” hammock.

              +1
Still scratching my head about why I ever sold my hennessey but yes you sleep flat in them. I used to sleep on a therm-a-rest in it. On my side!

Price and weight for complete setup?

    • Asinine Name says:

‘Remarkably, the hammock itself weighs less than 1 pound, and the whole system including the fly weighs under 2 lbs’

Right there in the link, as is the price; USD $499. Guess I’ll be waiting for the foreign made version…
