Huron Hot Weather Short Brim Boonie

TYR Tactical dropped this surprise on me last night. I really like the narrower brim. The Huron™ Hot Weather Short Brim Boonie Hat is a new spin on a 40 year old design. They constructed the 2” brim and top of the hat with newly developed 3.6oz 100% ripstop nylon which gives it strength, comfort and reduces the overall weight. The circumference of the MultiCam® boonie is made with poly mesh which quickens dry time in both arid and humid climates. It also allows excess heat to vent, further decreasing dry time. They went with 1” elastic webbing around the outside of the Boonie instead of the tradition nylon webbing. This ensures a secure fit of any foliage which may be used in conjunction with the hat.

Additional Features:
• Wt. 3.00 oz.
• 2” Brim
• Construction with 3.6oz 100% ripstop nylon and 1” elastic webbing
• Draw string with loop lock adjustment
• Compact and ultra-lightweight

    This and rolled sleeves, Nice

  2. cheapskate says:

ouch – 46 bucks for a boonie hat… dont think I can justify that with the staff accountant…

  3. Steak TarTar says:

    The Recce Hat, resurrected!

  4. Lt. Dan says:

Looks very similar to the TAD design. Which is equally expensive, but I dare say a fair price for what you get.

    • JD says:

Agree. Sad to see such a lame replication. We consumers should always choose innovation before a couple of dollars less.

  5. Stephen says:

looks good to go and maybe -cheapskate- forgot about the 15% off you could get on top of 46 bucks this weekend. This looks better and is more functional than a 20 dollar Propper boonie all day and its made here! The only nice reece hat I own and like was made by the disabled vet “slangvel” and i paid more for it, ouch!

    • Lt. Dan says:

Uh, I don’t know where you are paying $20 for a Propper boonie… but you should probably start shopping elsewhere.

      • Stephen says:

are you serious? never bought one but come on now deal finder Dan! they’re not that much cheaper, either way, who the hell cares! The point is, you buy cheap and get something cheap made abroad, not here, not to mention not a lot of companies or people make the smaller reece hats, but thanks for your pointless comment. Maybe you missed the fact i bought one from “slangvel” and paid MORE than this new TYR Tactical one. I dig that multicam elastic my hat is missing though! 🙂

    • MattCFII says:

Agreed, when I first saw it I thought that it reminded me of Slangvel’s mesh hat. I’ve actually spent more than $46 on every single one of his hats that I own (4 of them, including a Tricorne) but they are soooo damn good.

  6. Paul Koester says:

First time you wear this in 115 degree heat, you’ll know it was worth it. Not only is it light weight and comfortable, it’s quick dry material. Definitely the best option available.

  7. Peter Lindfsay says:

    Ahem…SORD ‘Torrid Boonie’ anyone?

    • bob says:

Agreed, torrid boonie is many steps ahead, lighter and like most things SORD, over engineered to be awesome. Its also a buck cheaper… BAM!

  8. Nexrad says:

The only question is 7 1/4 or 1/2. Anyone have one of these yet? Need a little input as to size because depending on other makers, Slanvel or DropZone, I need one or the other. Get’n the tape out I suppose.

  9. Mike says:

Any idea if these will be offered in solid colors? I like the MC but can’t get away with it at work.

  10. Seamus says:

I am a Ginger and I NEED a wider brim here in Texas.

  11. SamHill says:

I just got mine in this morning and it is fantastic. The materials are great and so is the workmanship. There are no metal vents to stab my bald head like in my older tru-spec ones and the mesh ventilation is fantastic.
