SHOT Show 17 – SKELI X11

IMG_0094

Upon first glance, the SKELI X11 bears at least a passing resemblance to the earliest iterations of the Magpul Masada, and with its ambidextrous controls, gas piston operation, folding stock, and quick-change barrel system, it meets many of the design notes of the Masada as well. The X11 is a short stroke piston rifle weighing in at 6.8 lbs. unloaded, and features an aluminum frame, M-LOK forend, polymer grip, monolithic 1913 rail, and a 16″ 41V50 barrel with a 1:7 twist rate. Proposed quick-change barrel options include the standard 5.56, as well as .300 BLK, 6.8 SPC, and 6.5 Grendel. As a bonus, the X11 is designed to accept AR-15 trigger packs, giving purchasers a wide range of established trigger options if they pick one of these up.

As is implied in the image above, the X11 is compatible with STANAG magazines, and will ship with Lancer polymer mags.

Slightly off topic but did anyone else see that Bushmaster was touting the ACR quick change barrels this year but they were only in 5.56. just different lengths. Totally missing the part that people were looking for, the calibers.
If they price this X11 reasonable I could see in people jumping on board.

The ACR was stillborn at best. Seven years on and the most it’s adaptive is in a couple handguards and stocks. People are better off with a good AR and an extra upper, at least that way there’s no re-zeroing sights from a barrel swap. Shame, I still remember when the Masada was the talk of SHOT 2007. Are they still selling gas blocks and such so people can do their own custom barrels?

I wish these folks luck, there’s always room for new products!

    • BAP45, I am the Sales Director with Skeli, and the MSRP for the rifle will be $1440. If you have any other questions, please feel free to send us an email.

  2. We also checked this out. First question I asked was how many Canadians came by since it’s not a AR so potentially non restricted. It’s an interesting design and I wish them luck with the endeavor. Their proposed price point wasn’t crazy either. We shall see.

Interesting to see their choice of sights are ARMS. Haven’t seen those in a long time.

What an interesting design as well. Hope to see more about this in the future.

Needs adjustable length of pull on the folding stock. And not a fan of the barrel quick change pin that protrudes in front of the magwell.

  5. Jbgleason says:

Maybe Freedom Group can get involved and help bring this to market.

    • DSM says:

Better have a fixed stock and a barrel no one asked for as its initial, and only, configuration. That’s the only way it’ll happen.
