I’m out in Wyoming at the High Bar Homestead with several other writers checking out new products from a couple of brands in anticipation of the upcoming NRA Annual Meeting. One of the items we’ve had the opportunity, to check out is this new GLOCK slide from GGP.
Designed as an affordable, Commercial Off The Shelf slide for GLOCK pistols, they are available in two cuts, for G17 or G19 and manufactured from 4140 steel.
This version features lightening cuts and features a rear sight dovetail mounted Delta Point Pro MRDS by Leupold Optics. The suppressor is a Silencerco Osprey.
The second variant features geoscales, milled to enhance handling.
This G19 also features the Delta Point Pro and is equipped with the SilencerCo Omega9K suppressor.
This photo gives you an idea of what the top of the slide looks like.
Expect to pay around $500 for a complete slide, minus sights and barrel and $400ish for a slide without the internal parts.
The barrels are aftermarket and incorporate threads for suppressors and a SAAMI spec chamber with 1/10 twist rifling. They should be about $200.
Both pistols incorporate a CMC trigger.
The initial run of G19 slides is currently in finish and will be available just before NRAAM from Grey Ghost Precision.
Is the “why one would buy this and how to know if you’re the target audience for it” conspicuously absent as a dig against the product, or because you didn’t get to shoot it or… why exactly?
Is it designed to cycle better with suppression? Tuned to reduce recoil impulse and extend the life of slide mounted optics? Lightened to just make overall target reacquisition faster, but hey we’ve got these cans laying around so might as well take a snazzy picture with them? Or, is it just cheap enough to get those on the fence about blinging out their glock to go for it, just so they can look down their nose at every loser at the range that has the gall to shoot their gun with a factory slide?
What’s the point, man?
What is the point of putting a front sight (even if it is suppressor height) on there when you have no rear sight? If you are gonna make it for RDS then at least mill a pocket into the slide for the thing.
That red dot can accept an accessory rear iron sight.
It can, but it would overhang the back of the slide require a front sight well over a half inch tall.
Agency Arms is the solution. Rear sight in front of RMR.
Lots of companies can do that, not just petty-snowflake Agency.
Meh. Not milled for an optic. As expensive as a whole new Glock. I fail to see the draw.
The draw is for the 80% market. The new Polymer 80 Glock 19 frames are pretty awesome. They feel like an OEM frame and are very easy to complete. Yes, an 80% gun is more expensive, but for people behind enemy lines, sometimes it’s the only option.
I don’t understand the point of getting an uncomplete/complete slide for the same, if not more than the price of a NIB Glock 17/19.
