These are Velocity Systems’ ULW plates. Made from titanium, these stand-alone, multistrike plates will defeat 7.62 x 39. The back plate is to the left and the front to the right. Medium plates are 4.5 lbs at .285″. They have NSNs, available from Velocity Systems.

Titanium is expensive, what will these plates cost?
…if you have to ask:)
Do titanium plates require spall guard?
Thats a really important question
The steel versions they had were heavy, but so is any steel armor. Good to see for those who need specialized armor will have a lighter option.
Very interesting, good to see more thinking outside the box. It warrants conversation that the level III requirements might not be needed for everyone, and something lighter or thinner for lessor but more common threats might make a lot of sense for some.
Titanium armour isn’t really thinking outside the box 😉 Russians have been using titanium plates for a long time (they have a big titanium industry)
With steel and titanium you can use a thinner plate, hence the “low visibility’ part.
To obtain level III protection you could also use a 100% Dyneema/Spectra plate (weight < 2kg) and will absorb spall, but it has a higher thickness
Aren’t the Russians phasing out the titanium armor though?
I’ll just leave this here…
I checked and the traditional gift for a 9th anniversary is … copper. The modern theme? Leather.
I’m not making this up.
