Kit Badger on Using an Adjustable Gas Block To Address Over / Undergassed Rifles

Kit Badger posted an article on how to tell if your rifle is overgassed or undergassed, as well as how to address it by tuning a Superlative Arms Adjustable Gas Block. As always, he created a video.

I purchased a Superlative Arms adjustable gas block for an AR-10 of mine that was having issues when suppressed — it cleaned it right up. That said, I think I’ll follow this method of adjusting gas blocks in the future instead of the way I did it.

    Top work as always Ivan.

Being facetious… An adjustable gas block probably isn’t going to help an under gassed rifle. With that said, most of my problems have been with over gassing. Especially with the addition of a suppressor. I’ve been very happy with the superlative offerings. Enough clicks for meaningful adjustment and the ability to have a “setting” instead of guessing on the set screw models.

You are right Jack. The SA Gas Block won’t fix a undergassed rifle. The write up was a tad misleading. Ultimately the video was about how to tell if your rifle is over / undergassed and how to tune an adjustable gas block. (Which won’t address undergassing)

Before long I’ll put out a video on how to tune a over or undergassed rifle without an adjustable gas block. Thanks for watching Jack.
