Remington 1911s use the series 80 safety for me its a deal breaker

      • Dave says:

It honestly was a deal breaker for me too, until I got reality checked and woke up from the fantasy land I was dreaming in. I have a Para that these appear to be rebrandings of, and the trigger is as good as a professionally hand built 1911 I have.

        • Gerard says:

Its a matter of personal preference, if your comfortable with the series 80 1911s thats all that matters. I wont say they are any less reliable, the mechanism has been in use for about 40 years.

        • Will Rodriguez says:

Concur on the Paras despite the bad batches they had when they moved to the Carolinas.

Been reaching out to Remington with zero responses to find out what they may have done to return to Para Ordnance’s original Canadian built reliability.

    2. Seamus says:

Remington went bankrupt because they didn’t make a single thing new or worth buying in over a decade…this is no different. WOW a 1911 just like hundreds of other 1911s. Probably a well made pistol but how is this going to help the company dig itself out of the GIANT hole it finds itself in?

    3. Jesse says:

I purchased the single stack limited in .40 when they first came out (SN# 2). I completely disagree with you. This gun is not ready for competition. First the area of the frame where the grip safety sits in he upper part of the beavertail is not blended at all, if you were shooting a big match 6+ stages you will get cut and or blistered due to the poor blending. The thumb safety on the left side of the gun had to be blended and filed down due to over hanging the frame causing contact with the thumb bone shearing skin off during a big match.

Second the barrel is fit poorly. A well fit barrel is set to allow the feet to rest on the slide stop pin allowing for a tight lockup for a more accurate shot, the Remington doesn’t do this. Only the barrel link pin contacts the slide stop not allowing the barrel to lockup properly. Causing 25 to 50 yard shots to become less accurate.

I’ve contacted Remington on these matters and was told to piss off.

Whatever…..I can think of at LEAST three companies making as good or better 1911’s for less money. Remington….whether it’s their ammo or their pistols….thanks but no thanks.
In fact that might make a good logo for them. “Remington….why?”

    5. Mark says:

How about someone making a 1911 like the issue one?

Or one like the Springfield Defender which was an out-of-the-box Gunsite Service Pistol?

      Anyone?
