Black Collar Arms Forged Carbon Fiber Components

Austin, TX (09/07/2020) — Originally developed as a joint effort between Lamborghini and Callaway Golf Company, the forged carbon fiber process can produce complex shapes one-third the weight of titanium, yet stronger. Partnering with manufacturing company McVick, Black Collar Arms is excited to bring the world of forged carbon fiber components to a firearm near you.

Available first are Forged Carbon Fiber One-Piece Scope Mounts in 30mm and 34mm ring sizes. Despite weighing in at a scant 5.2 ounces, these forged carbon fiber scope mounts are as stiff and rigid as if they were machined from steel (three times stiffer than aluminum!) with just 1/6th the thermal expansion of aluminum.

These are the most rigid scope mounts on the market and maintain flawless zero in any condition. As if the gorgeous carbon fiber aesthetic wasn’t enough!

Forged Carbon Fiber One-Piece Scope Mounts are the first in an upcoming line of forged carbon fiber components currently being designed by Black Collar to be manufactured by McVick exclusively for Black Collar. Expect further optic mounting solutions plus other accessories and components, including AR-15 parts.

Quality is extremely high, but current production capacity is low. Mount availability will be rather limited with small batches arriving at Black Collar weekly while we gradually invest in increasing capacity.

Despite the limited and exclusive nature of the Forged Carbon Fiber One-Piece Scope Mounts and their physical advantages over aluminum mounts, not to mention their drop-dead gorgeous looks, MSRP is in-line with other premium scope mounts.

    There are mounts made from metal that are lighter. e.g. from Aero Precision at 3.21 oz(*) against the 5.2 of the “forged” carbon. So why should I buy these? What do they offer over mounts made from metal? They certainly look cool. I give them that.

    • Short answer is that this mount isn’t going after the lightweight segment of the market, but the heavy duty segment. It’s designed to compete with the extra burly, super stiff, super secure mounts used in PRS style shooting, some hunting applications, some LEO/MIL applications, long range shooting with big heavy scopes that are super precise, or just extreme precision applications. This is why it has nice wide rings and extremely solid support structure, large rail clamps, multiple recoil lugs, etc. Compared with mounts in this category it’s about 40% lighter, yet it’s more rigid and stronger. The goal with this one was to make the most rigid, secure scope mount on the market. Any weight savings were a happy bonus. Like if we set out to make the strongest, most capable pickup truck and achieved that but as a side benefit it’s also 40% lighter than other pickups because of the material used. Yes, a Toyota Yaris may still be much lighter than the forged CF pickup but it’s kind of a different animal.

      Don’t worry, we’ll also be doing designs that are focused on being as light as possible to go after the shaving grams crowd, and we’ve already begun working on some of those designs with McVick leading the way. Mounts, rings, red dot mounts, and components that aren’t related to optics at all.

    more rigid & less affected by temperatures and moisture, same advantages of CF wherever theyre used and to some users it makes a difference. looks and weight are impotent reasons to buy or not unless all other factors are optimized.
    personally i think the technology more interesting than the product, and if it gets traction could go on to be used for more interesting things. this is basically market entry.
