This seems unnecessary and micro managing. I switched two years ago to once a month and can’t imagine going back to 2x. I hope the Air Force doesn’t follow suit.

  2. Jimbo says:

I would’ve hated this. I had once a month my whole career. Now I get twice a month contracting and I hate it. Almost every bill I have is due the first week.

  3. Lee says:

Navy has always been twice a month until retainer or retirement pay then once a month.

Tired Old Junior NCO Heart to Heart:

Complaints about being paid weekly, twice or once a month all illustrate the same cancer: grown men living paycheck to paycheck because they have not the impulse control or foresight to cut where they can to develop enough savings so as to be able to float their normal bills each month.

Shouldn’t make any difference if people settle billing once a month. You’ll get paid for previous month on the first, settle bills, then get paid on the 15th, just save that since you don’t need it until the next first of the month, and on the first settle bills again. At NO POINT should there be 45 day gap in pay.

But it is DFAS, so there is potential for them to completely f*ck this up.

  6. Patrick says:

What was the logic or reasoning for this mandate. People should be able to choose when and how they receive their pay. Some are better at managing all their money up front while some need to be paid twice a month to manage through the month. I prefer to get all my pay at once. I earned it let me manage it.
