Tyr Tactical Sniper Bandoleer

Tyr Tactical has posted photos of a new Sniper Bandoleer on their Facebook page. The concept is that it can be worn over the shoulder and then laid out in front of the shooter to work out of.

First though that went through my head was “TAD Gear Bandoleer”.
Not sure if TAD’s was the original concept, but that’s the first MOLLE bandoleer I knew of.

What’s with all these useless gimmicks lately?

As a sniper myself, I laugh at this idea. Maybe this will make a good prop in the next “Sniper” movie, but real snipers walk around with vests and armor along with everything tied down nicely as not to move. So what’s the point of this?

The only answer is for some airsoft jockey that wants to look cool.

Well Joe, to answer your question/comment this was asked of us to build by an individual who is a very well respected sniper himself. The gentlemen is an instructor for a major rifle company and wanted to be able to not have magazines available but be able to go prone and workout of the kit in front of him.

Most in the SOF sniper community that knows TYRs products (COMA Harness, Sniper Specific Pouches, etc) know that we design utilizing direct input from some of the best the US has to offer. This piece of kit may not fit your specific needs but we have had plenty of feedback from those that see it’s usefulness.

Jason, I appreciate your answering my question; sorry if it came across a little hostile. If it was a custom job then by all means it is probably suitable for the purpose the individual had in mind.

A better use would be that instead of a Bandoleer, use a wrap around the left arm (assuming the shooter is right handed) to hold the ammunition. This is what we made (custom sewing on base) for ourselves and it proved most useful. The advantage is that you can also put it around the rifle itself and it folds up nice and small for storage. It also protects the rounds from damage. You can also clip it to different places on a vest if you want.

It looked similar to this just elastic, held over 15 rounds and with buckles on either end:

Here you can see an example of the exact item I am talking about on the left snipers arm and on the right snipers tripod:

If you could make something similar to this that and combine it with an idea like this, just make sure there is little to no velcro and only buckles and buttons :

I, and many other snipers, would buy it in droves if decently priced.

Well said Jason. And for the record, ive never seen any “real” snipers walking around with Barrett magazines tied down on their armor vests as to not move. Joe, you should do your research on who Tyr is and who their clients are before you sharpshoot.
