Almost in stealth mode, we ran across this excellent bush hat from Platatac while visiting the Edgar Brothers booth. Dubbed the Grouse Bush Hat – Recon (Grouse is Australian for awesome) it’s part of a complete ensemble that includes a short and trousers.
And while it’s packed full of features like diagonal vents with mesh backing, a short brim and rear adjustment, that’s not the real story. This hat is 100% cotton ripstop in MultiCam. Platatac worked with Duro to produce this fabric based on the material used in the old jungle fatigues. That means cottony comfort gents.
That’s a good looking hat.

Can you post some pictures of the uniform? Did you mean “shirt” and not “short” or is there actual short pants? That would be cool, kind of like old Rhodesian style! 100% cotton uniform, that’s what I’m talking about for the jungle.
I agree with ‘Frazzle’, “I’ll take a Slangvel recce boonie over this any day of the week”… I own four made by Slangvel, nothing can compare, hands down Slangvel’s are the best.
