Long the stuff of movie legend, the shotgun suppressor has been a mythical beast. Sure, they’ve been demonstrated over the years to varying success but they’ve a lot of weight and length to the barrel of the shotgun making them less than ideal.
Just minutes ago, at SilencerCo’s 1st Annual F#!*ING Catalina Wine Mixer, CEO Josh Waldron formally announced the latest addition to their product line; the Salvo 12, a shotgun suppressor.
To be sure, this is great news for the tactical market, but this will mean a lot for the hunters out there as well. This is a great crossover product that I think will help to bring suppressors mainstream in the hunting market. It’s important to get the hunters on board when trying to pass suppressor legislation.
Knox Williams, President if the American Suppressor Association was present at the launch and said, “SilencerCo’s introduction of a commercially viable shotgun suppressor will introduce a new segment of the shooting public to the advantages of firearms suppressors. Forward thinking like this will help ASA and the industry transition suppressors from NFA items to the mainstream.”
Yes, it’s a 12 ga design. Considering the popularity of the 12 ga it was the right move. SilencerCo is open to developing suppressors for additional shotguns but wanted to get this out.
The Salvo 12 is scalable and can be configured by adding sections to customize the level of suppression you’re looking for. It integrates a Removable choke system to attach to your shotgun and uses a system of Rods, baffles and caps to lower the 12 ga report to that of a .22. In a video, we could actually hear the clay pigeon breaking upon impact.
Here are the performance specs provided by SilencerCo.
Coming Fall 2014.

“…integrates a Removable choke system to attach to your shotgun,” does the suppressor support removable chokes of it’s own or is it a fixed choke?
The adapter is the choke, it’s just threaded past the barrel as well.
Right on, but does the adaptor/choke come in different types, like Improved, Modified, Full, etc.?
Saw your answer in the new article, thanks!
No Country For Old Nen style!!!!
No Country For Old Men style!!!
Is this “one-stamp” configurable or will it simply be different size cans available?
One-stamp. They will ship at the Max length.
They won’t consider that some form of repair or some other bullshit? Kinda like the oil can adapters that replacing the oil can is repairing and only sot or class 3 or whatever can repair?
Now only if somebody would start remaking those suppressed shotgun shells from the sixties.
Slugs and shot?
Both
Great news. Thanks!
Really looking forward to seeing one on an SBS, or a KSG. Those look a tad cumbersome on full length guns.
That said, cumbersome or not, I want one for my S12! Interested to hear how gas guns will function with it, as well.
I was shooting an auto and it was great. The weight isn’t that bad.
Didn’t even think of ksg, I went straight to sbr saiga…
Looks like US C-SOG will be needing some for their Facebook videos.
“Operatorrrrsss, Moubt up!”
*puts helmet on* didnt redjacket already make suppressors for shot guns ……..
People have been making shotgun suppressors for a long time, Red Jacket just acted like they where doing something new .
yabefor that ide never seen a suppressor on a shotgun to be honest i mean ive seen them on lever action and single shot rifles but never a shotgun
It’s been done. But not like this.
You mean properly? Unlike Redjacket “NevaBinDunBefor” Firearms.
Hushpower out of the UK has been making full-barrel suppressors for some time, but like SSD admin said this is different. This is the first “commercially viable” shotgun suppressor because it’s removable and obtainable. This is f’ing awesome!
looks good.
Finally! SilencerCo is up to some sweet stuff lately…
Although if they want to fully include the hunting market, a 20 ga would be awesome, but hey, I’ll take this anyday
I’m sure that 20 gauge will be coming; they will want to service the most popular segment of the market first and then scale up to the rest if the demand is there, which there should be for 10 and 20 gauge.
Cheers,
Terry
did they provide pricing info?
MSRP is listed at $1,400. Not bad considering what you’re getting.
Will you ship to Canada??
All suppressors/silencers are considered PROHIBITED under the firearms act in Canada, unless you have a specific business licence or are LE/Military.
Too bad, it looks great.
Looks like something Arnold would have at the end of his blaster when Robert Patrick comes calling.
Silencer Co has done it again, Bet it will be awesome just like the Osprey!
At 12″ length, that would be a little smaller than a Serbu SS. Hmmm…
34 oz? Man, it’s heavy. Shotgun barrels are thick but isn’t it too much?
Don’t all silencers degrade the more they’re used? Wonder what the lifespan (number of shots) on this thing is.
$1,400 is FAR too pricey in this economy…..sorry, maybe when there is a Real President in Office and I can count on a job.
What do you think a reasonable price for this product is?
think there will be a way to mount this on a SBS? Can you put a choke in a really short barrel such as the Serbu Super Shorty?
