As we see MultiCam being worn more and more at home station by Airmen, we’ve begun to notice that it is being increasingly worn with Sage Green boots rather than the Tan models worn in theater.

I’d gladly keep my ugly boots if that was the caveat to switch over while maintaining “branch identity ” or whatever the hell we’re calling it this week.

It’s Japan, the island may have staved off the PT belt syndrome.
However Liberty is still restricted usually I’m sure.
Now if we can get rid of the sand T-shirts and go back to brown.
Air Force used to wear black t-shirts. I believe the Army is going back to a “brownish” t-shirt with the new uniform introduction.
Kadena was a beautiful base. As a Marine, I was stationed there for five months on a TAD assisgnment. The Air Force were the only service on island that were not locked down during typhoons and had minimal restrictions on libo. Not to mention, as a Marine, it was like staying at a resort compared to the living conditions I was used to at Marine bases. This is probably the only time that anyone in history has run in formation on the base. A little exageration on my part but this isn’t an everyday occurence there. Kadena is home to a large number of personnel, I think this comes down to the supply timelines and peacemeal uniforms is going to be the status quo until the supply chain has caught up with the mass issue of OCP throughout the designated units for issue.
The AFSOC guys generally don’t get their kit through RFI but is rather issued as part of SPEAR/BAMS or in the case of boots, purchased by the Squadron.
Agree, Kadena was wonderful.
I did a tour there with the 33rd Rescue Squadron. One day while going to the chow hall for dinner I came upon a group of young marines standing outside,looking in in the window and discussing something. I asked them if they needed help with something and one of them replied “we were looking for the mess hall, but this looks too nice. looks more like a restaurant” I told them that it is indeed a chow and to come on in.
Sounds about right! Marines might make fun of the other services for having better chow, but we sure do take advantage of every opportunity to eat it.
I still remember the first time I ate in an AF Din Fac – the stewards cleared our trays for us! Pretty impressive for a lowly infantry medic.
Back in the day when Ft. Richardson and Elmendorf AFB were separate entities we would drive over all the time to eat the chow hall, it was damn good compared to Army food at the time
We managed to get a trip ticket for trips from Schwab to Kadena for chow many times. Well worth the effort.

That facility sure does seem to be hard on aircraft though. Seems like maintenance delays were the rule for the outbound flights.

Speaking of Crye, looks like these guys are wearing the AC Field Shirts and Pants. To be honest, those are not very pretty, well, they don’t have an American look to them anyway, maybe that’s why. xD
Digging the new look. Looks like some sanity actually prevailed after that long cluster with AR/AF uniforms. The Sage boots- they actually look really good, almost like an odd throwback to jungle boots. After all, you don’t have to polish them, right boys?
As a CCT we wore the tan boots with our multicams. They might be wearing the sage boots here, because they want to look “uniform”. The nice thing about those sage boots is they are the same as the ones worn with the ABUs. I wouldn’t doubt if the 720th group mandates sage boots with garrison multicams. Really, it doesn’t change anything. Although, they are awful boots. They are only good for looking decent in a uniform. No Controller would actually wear them on a mission.
