What happened to the ones being made by Kaos Kydex?

I haven’t had the time to dedicate to the sheath I was working on. I did just release a Kydex cover strictly for the cutter.

How do the Rip Shears compare to the Leatherman Raptor? Has anyone done a side by side comparison?

    Cheers,
    Terry

The Rip Shears are standard shears with the cutter added to the handle. The Raptor is a much thicker metal. Both are great – the Raptor has a couple of extra tools, if your looking for a set of EMT/CLS/Paramedic shears – go with the Rip Shears; if you are looking for a set that you can fold up and slip in your pocket – go with the Raptor. Or you could go wild and combine the two, you can just buy the ripper part (I’m not sure if it fits, but I’m sure you could Dremel it a little) I’m not sure if it will still fold properly…
I have both, my Rip Shears are on my trauma bag and my Raptor hangs out in my EDC pack! Gonna get me one of these holsters!

ripshears are an attachment for standard trauma shears that cost about 10 bucks and has replaceable blades. the leatherman raptor has a bunch of funky tools on it and is basically them trying to combine a standard leatherman (albeit with more of a rescue/ems focused toolset) and a pair of trauma shears.

trauma shears: free from your ems service or military, or $7 in stores, plus rip shear attachment: $10.

leatherman raptor: $60, with an o2 wrench, window punch, and some other stuff. autoclavable.

ripshears are great for trauma pt’s/getting clothes off in a hurry

raptor is if you are a gearhead and feel you need the extra do-dads

ripshears are more practical and cost-effective imo, while the raptor is difficult to properly sanitize unless you have access to an autoclave, and you would be better off taking trauma shears + ripshears and a leather wave

Man, where was this 10 years ago?

Completely off-topic, Brando; but it’s always good to see your name pop up now and then.
