ORWM – Arc’teryx

The big Arc’teryx story at ORWM is the Alpha IS Jacket.


The IS suffix is for Insulated and the Alpha IS relies on ThermaTek for incredible warmth to weight ratio.  ThermaTek is a hollow core fiber which gets a DWR bath and is then laminated to a face fabric with a second DWR bath.  That face fabric is an air permeable Gore-Tex fabric.  It’s a very technical piece.  Use the Alpha IS in cold/wet/windy environments down to around -15 Celsius.  


It also features the new TPU zipper pulls above and Cohesive Cord locks below which tuck into the harness belt.

O P Tactical figured since we were getting a real warrior as Secretary of Defense, they ought to celebrate the event by offering a War Department T-shirt, complete with the original logo. For those of you unfamiliar, the current Department of Defense (Initially named the National Military Establishment) was created 70 years ago in 1947, during the post-WW II reorganization of the National Defense Act. Before that, there was a War Department and a Navy Department.

We’re Back!

The situation with the SSD’s former webhosting platform became untenable yesterday at about 1000 EST when they explained that they couldn’t undo the server configuration that was causing the issue. At that point, they shut us down and told us we had to move.

We had to scramble to find a new Webhost and the team at Inmotion Hosting, here in Virginia’s Tidewater stepped up to the plate, working late into the night to get this site back online.

We can’t thank them enough.
