OR – Jetboil

Many of you may be familiar with the Jetboil line of portable cooking systems. They have just introduced a new version of the popular Flash stove with a genuine MultiCam neoprene cozy that goes around the vessel. Additionally, the shroud that houses the burner base is an OD color that matches the MultiCam quite well. The burner incorporates a piezo igniter. Finally, Jetboil pioneered the use the FluxRing, a heat exchanger technology that looks like a series of fins. It doubles the fuel efficiency of the Jetboil stove because it heats up so quickly. It also cools more quickly than other stoves as well.

Weighing in at 14oz (without fuel), the entire kit and caboodle stores inside the vessel for transport.

Über Group to Rep Kill Cliff to Tactical Industry

While I was perusing the new Arc’teryx LEAF lineup yesterday with the Über SOF team I was tossed a can of Kill Cliff. I said, “Cool, I love this stuff. Too bad you can’t buy it anywhere around here. Did Baker stop by?” The reply surprised me. I was told that I’d be able to get it from GSS Gear here in the Tidewater and when I am in Fayetteville, I’d be able to get it from Grey Group. StoveTec

US Tactical Supply told us about a new product line they are carrying. StoveTec offers one and two door models of their rocket stoves which will burn wood of other high biomass combustible material. The big plus to these style of stoves is that they use less fuel than cooking on an open fire.

Stovetec characterizes use of their stoves in one of two categories, “…either high or low power. We consider high power cooking as high temperature cooking with more fuel, as performed with boiling, grilling, frying, and/or using a wok. We consider low power cooking performed with low temperature simmering, use with covered retained heat cookers, or grilling slowly on a BBQ grill.” Both consumer stoves rely on metal lined ceramic combustion chambers and the big difference between the two models is those doors. With the one door model you feed the fire through the door. However, with the two door version you feed the fire through the top door and use the bottom door to regulate the temperature by opening and closing to control the amount of air that makes its way into the combustion chamber.
