FirstSpear Friday Focus – Comms Pack Available In Grey

Friday, October 7th, 2016

This week, we take another look at the Comm Pack as the ripstop Grey is back in stock. Now, you can be the Grey RTO.

The FS Communications Pack is available in two sizes with both identical in features. The Medium sized model offers 980 cu in of capacity and the Large model is 1800 cu in capacity.

Based off of the popular Exigent Circumstance Pack, the Comm Pack offers a decidedly urban styling in order to help mask its true role. The zippered main compartment offers ample storage for a wide variety of communications devices or other equipment and the cable access ports are discreetly located. Inside, there’s a padded laptop sleeve and zippered mesh pocket.

The pack incorporates padded shoulder straps with QR buckles as well as a low profile, padded haul loop handle at the top of the pack. The mesh, padded back of the pack offers the distinctive FirstSpear logo stitched design but don’t worry, it’s going to be against your back while your wearing it. Each side of the pack features a mesh pocket for water bottles or other items. There is also an exterior, beavertail-style flap with dual zippered compartments for quick storage. Additionally, there is a flat zippered pocket at the front of the pack under the flap.

The Comms Pack is available in Black, Blue/Silver, Ranger Green/Coyote and the Ripstop Light Grey featured here.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – OEM Partner Series – SureFire

Friday, September 30th, 2016

Occassionally, we use the FirstSpear Friday Focus to highlight one of their OEM partners. This is one of those occassions, and this week we are looking at the work FS does for SureFire.

For quite awhile I’ve known that FirstSpear manufactured the SureFire High Capacity Magazine Pouches but what I didn’t realize is how long the two brands have been working together. They’ve been cooperating steadily since 2011.

Why did SureFire ultimately go with FirstSpear manufacturing?
First and foremost, we chose FirstSpear due to the high quality of product they produce. FirstSpear constantly innovates, and never cuts corners, which are attributes we at SureFire relate to closely. Additionally, their fast pace of manufacturing and competitive pricing made the decision easy. We feel the collaboration between SureFire and FirstSpear works well, as both companies simply want to build the best products possible for our customers and warfighters.

Why is it important that the Suppressor Pouches were “Made in the USA”?
SureFire SOCOM suppressor pouches need to be “Made in the USA” due to The Berry Amendment. We are required to comply with The Berry Amendment to be eligible for certain government contracts, specifically the SOCOM contract we currently hold. The Berry Amendment is a statutory requirement that restricts the Department of Defense (DoD) from using funds appropriated or otherwise available to DoD for procurement of food, clothing, fabrics, fibers, yarns, other made-up textiles, and hand or measuring tools that are not grown, reprocessed, reused, or produced in the United States.

Interestingly, FS also provides the headbands for the Maximus Head Lamp.

While the SSV line of holsters isn’t manufactured for SureFire, FS does offer models compatible with the X300 series weapon lights. Soon, they’ll be introducing versions which will accept the SureFire XC1.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – Factory Visit

Friday, September 23rd, 2016

I recently had an opportunity to visit the FirstSpear headquarters and factory so I thought it would be a good idea to show you where all of this gear we share each week is made.

The first thing you’ll notice as you pull up to their facility is the signage. Although, the factory is right off of the interstate, you’re certainly not going to miss it and approach the wrong building.

Once inside, I signed in and was directed to a new sales show room they are configuring. The shelving is still under construction but several of the mannequins featured new products, so I can’t spill the beans just yet. But, once it’s completed, we’ll feature it in an upcoming Friday Focus.

As you can see, the production floor is quite large. You may wonder about the silver pipes. Those allow the individual sewers to direct air conditioning where they need it.

Flotation remains an important segment of FirstSpear’s current offerings. They were pumping out systems like gangbusters during my visit.

Their cutters are what keeps that line running. FS recently upgraded to a larger capacity laser cutter and it has really sped things up.

There’s a lot of prototyping going on right now and FirstSpear’s prototype sewing staff is as big as some companies’ entire production crew. They’re getting ready for some very big reveals this Fall, but the one for SHOT Show will blow your socks off. Expect to see not only new designs, but also new materials.

FS keeps a great deal of raw material on hand, with rows and rows of shelving packed with stock.

Demand for FirstSpear products continues to rise. In spite of their increased production capacity, wait times are only seeming to get longer, so I’d recommend that if you know you’ll need something, order sooner, rather than later.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – Patrol Radio Pouch

Friday, September 16th, 2016

This week’s focus is a pretty straight forward design. The Patrol Radio Pouch was designed around the MT and XTS family of Motorola radios, but will accommodate most public safety styled radios, with or without shoulder mic attachment.  It’s offered with 6/9 or 6/12 attachment systems in Ranger Green, MultiCam, Coyote and Black.

FS would also like to kick off an End of Summer promo. Spend $100 or more on first-spear.com and get a free FS skull t-shirt.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – Fight Strap

Friday, September 2nd, 2016

I really like the FirstSpear Fight Strap. Its utility became immediately evident when I saw a friend storing a fully loaded Fight Strap in his rifle bag. It was a very low profile, yet fully functional way to carry magazines and it fit perfectly when kept right with the rifle. If he had to just grab one bag, he would have everything he needed right there.

Granted, the Fight Strap is more bandoleer than chest rig, with its single shoulder and waist straps, but it will do in a pinch and is a great way to resupply others who don’t necessarily have dedicated load carrying systems. I’ve even gotten to where I keep one in a rifle case as well; just in case.

The Fight Strap is also designed to be used as a dedicated component in several of FirstSpear’s storage and transport bags.

NewFightStrapgroup

Fight Straps are available in a wide range of magazine options, including: 5.56, 7.62, AK-47, MP5, UMP, P90 as well as a modular model you can configure any way you wish. In fact, the Modular version has been pretty popular with units, departments, and agencies.

Offered in Black, Khaki, Coyote, Ranger Green, and MultiCam.

Plus, it’s available in some non-tactical, yet muted colors, so you don’t stick out one way or the other.

Dimensions:
16” wide
11.5” deep at the top 12.5” deep at the bottom

FirstSpear Friday Focus – Forager Cap in Ranger Green and Manatee Grey

Friday, August 12th, 2016

Previously only available via pre-order, the Forager Cap is now in stock in both Ranger Green and Manatee Grey which joins Coyote, Black and MultiCam.

The Forager Cap has a slightly longer brim than other caps which gives extra shade and has a preformed fold in that makes storing it in your pocket flat and easy. The front of the cap has a light weight breathable low nap pile from Velcro that will let you put a FS Cell Tag, PVC Patch or leave the FS Embroidered Logo present. Additionally, eye glass channels on the front and back keep your eye pro in place.

Ventilation, and wicking properties with the ultra light weight mesh liner and a generous amount of adjustment on the back hook strap coupled with a small amount of stretch make for a great comfortable fit.

Below are the new color options, Manatee Grey first and then Ranger Green.

Here is a sizing chart.
