Morakniv Classic Knives

Sunday, December 26th, 2021

Morakniv Classic knives aren’t particularly new, but I like the look all the same. I own a couple of Morakniv knives because they are inexpensive and reliable and stash them in places like tackle boxes and car trunks. Their classic line offers that same low price and high quality but adds some class.

There are three basic models as well as a version for splitting wood. For example, above you see a Classic No 3 with its red-stained and barrel-shaped birch handle paired with a 135 mm long carbon steel blade. While the sheath is polymer, decorated with the Dalecarlian shield design. Plus, the sheath has a Swedish vegetable tanned leather belt hanger.

CRKT Releases Latest Product in Forged by War Line, Third in Clever Girl Collection

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021

CRKT is proud to unveil the Clever Girl™ Kukri fixed blade from designer and veteran Austin McGlaun, bringing about the third variation in the Clever Girl lineup and the newest member to CRKT’s Forged by War® program.

During his time stationed at Fort Polk while serving in the military, knifemaker Austin McGlaun was inspired to find new ways to tackle laborious camp chores. And so, the Clever Girl™ Kukri was realized. Featuring a wide upper chest and sharp inward curve towards the blade’s belly, the Kukri is a hard-hitting tool that dominates in the great outdoors. Equipped with a high-performance 7.75” SK-5 carbon steel blade and sturdy G10 handle, this reimagined version still brandishes a mighty swing, despite being more compact than its predecessor. In addition to its famed military use, the traditional Kukri was once hailed as the go-to for chopping firewood, digging, cutting through tough meat, and conquering farm chores. McGlaun also notes the appeal that the Kukri has for backpackers.

“It’ll do any job that an ax will do, but it will also do any job that a knife will do. And when you’re looking at backpacking, ounces equal pounds, pounds equal pain”, says McGlaun. “You can chop firewood, build shelters, cut limbs and stakes, skin game or process game with it, protect yourself… It has more outdoor versatile uses than any other design of mine.”

The Kukri is the third iteration in the Clever Girl™ Collection from McGlaun, following the release of the popular Clever Girl™ fixed blade and the Clever Girl™ folding knife with Deadbolt®.

Specs:

Blade: Edge: Plain

Steel: SK-5

Thickness: 0.19” (4.78 mm)

Finish: Powder Coat

Length: 7.75” (196.85 m)

Open: 13.25” (336.55 mm)

Weight: 14.20 oz. (402.56 g)

Handle: G10

Style: Fixed Blade Knife w/Sheath

Sheath Material: Thermoplastic

Sheath Weight: 5.60oz (158.75G)

The Clever Girl™ Kukri will retail at $135.00.

The Clever Girl™ Kukri will be released ahead of Veteran’s Day, launching on Thursday, November 4th, 2021, and will be available on CRKT.com.

This product is the latest member of CRKT’s Forged by War® program; a program comprised of veterans utilizing their experiences and expertise to forge weapons and tools they would have liked to use in the field. Under the program, a portion of the CRKT profits is donated to the designer’s charity of choice. For this design, Austin has chosen the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation. Black Triangle Announces the Midnight Creeper MK4

The Ultimate Non-Metallic Fighting Knife

Available November 26th, the Midnight Creeper MK4 is a much-needed modification to our most popular G10 knife.

An index point is a touch-based feature that tells the user that they are grabbing the knife the same way every time. So, what would happen if we took the MK1 Mod2 and added an index point to it? That is the question asked by Johnny Primo of Courses of Action. Some students at recent Courses of Action combatives classes happened to also be Black Triangle end users. A common theme among them was the inability to get a consistent grip on the handle. This feedback was just the information we needed.

We kept the same overall length of the MK1 but gave the handle a tune-up. The symmetrical finger choils and flared pommel give the user a secure and ambidextrous grip.

The sheath is flipped so the bevels face the body when drawing the knife. It keeps the knot away from the skin, thus eliminating a hotspot. This is another common suggestion from end users.

The flipped sheath and clip position allows a right-handed user to carry the knife on the appendix support-side in conjunction with an AIWB firearm. For those carrying strong-side, the clip orientation allows for the knife to be slightly canted to the rear, giving the user more comfort when sitting.

The MK1M2 is not going away, however for those already carrying a MK1, the MK4 is definitely the next level up.

These additions to an already trusted and proven product makes the MK4 the ultimate non-metallic fighting knife.

Victorinox Angry Beaver Knife

Sunday, October 31st, 2021

I was browsing around Duluth Trading Co the other day looking for a birthday gift for Tactical Fanboy and ran across the Victorinox Angry Beaver Knife.

Along with Brown scales, it features a pair of scissors, small blade, file, straight screwdriver, toothpick, tweezers and keyring. In addition to the angry beaver, the other side features the Duluth Trading logo.

I got quite a kick out of it, and while Tactical Fanboy isn’t getting one, someone else on my life is.
