Introducing the Sonoma V2 Blackout and Prybar

East Lansing, Michigan, January 13, 2022 – The GiantMouse Sonoma V2 has gone to the dark side. First introduced in 2021 in Green and Natural Canvas Micarta, the V2 was designed as an outdoor working liner-lock with rounded scales. As with the original Sonoma, the V2 is manufactured by Reate Knives.

With its slim profile and comfortable ergos, the Sonoma V2 has become a favorite “go-to” folder for outdoor adventurers. Perfect for day-hikes or week-long backpacking trips, the Sonoma V2 packs light but will perform heavy cutting tasks along the way.

This new version of the Sonoma V2 sports black G10 scales, a brass back spacer, and a black PVD Elmax blade.

The Elmax blade, with a Black PVD finish, is 3.4” (87.3mm) in length, and 0.138″ (3.5mm) thick. The handle is 4.5″ (114.3mm) long, giving it an overall length of 8.” (203.2mm). The Sonoma V2 Blackout weighs in at 3oz (85g).

While it’s not a knife, the GiantMouse Caplifter / Prybar tool is one sharp design!

This multifunctional tool designed by Anso and Vox is perfect for use as a key fob. By adding a split ring, it allows you to hang your keys in your pocket using the integrated side clip. And when it comes time to pop the cap off of a cool drink, it’ll be your go to opener!

Available in both Bronze and Titanium, the Prybar is 3/16” (4.8mm) thick, 3.07” (78mm) in length, 1.3” (33mm) in width, and weighs in at 1.8oz (51g).

SIRT Training Knife

I’ve been aware of the Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger laser pistols for training for years but I only recently found out they had introduced a training knife.

Modeled on a folder aesthetic, this fixed blade features a rubber blade which will bend. There’s nothing particularly innovative about it, but it’s affordable.

Morakniv Classic Knives

Morakniv Classic knives aren’t particularly new, but I like the look all the same. I own a couple of Morakniv knives because they are inexpensive and reliable and stash them in places like tackle boxes and car trunks. Their classic line offers that same low price and high quality but adds some class.

There are three basic models as well as a version for splitting wood. For example, above you see a Classic No 3 with its red-stained and barrel-shaped birch handle paired with a 135 mm long carbon steel blade. While the sheath is polymer, decorated with the Dalecarlian shield design. Plus, the sheath has a Swedish vegetable tanned leather belt hanger.

This winter 2021, Terrain 365™ introduces their new Caiman Slipjoint. Another one of their modern iterations of the classic Barlow pattern featuring their premium, rustproof, edge holding, Terravantium™ blade alloy. This precision made slipjoint has a clip point blade profile with dual nail knicks and is paired with either titanium billet handles or carbon fiber scales with titanium liners. This compact slipjoint feels smooth and comfortable in the pocket, features an internal lanyard pin, is engineered for practical use in any environment on land and even under water, and is legal to carry in many international areas where other folding knives are not.

The MIK-02: Halfbreed Blades’ New Medium Infantry Knife

Introducing the MIK-02, influenced by the diverse daily requirements of active-duty personnel and the demands of the environments they serve in.

The MIK-02 (Medium Infantry Knife) from HALFBREED BLADES is a mid-size CQB fixed blade intended for use as a dedicated Infantry knife. The MIK-02 comes in three colors; Black, Dark Earth, and Ranger Green.

The MIK-02’s highly utilitarian tanto point blade incorporates many performance-enhancing, essential features for a multirole fixed blade knife of this genre.

Hewn from a solid slab of 6.5mm thick Austrian K110 (D2), this multirole fixed blade, is overbuilt in every detail. In addition, it incorporates a range of performance-enhancing features developed for hard use applications.
