I Darley Defense Days – Hydrapak – Collapsible Canteen

Thursday, June 4th, 2015

For 15 years, Hydrapak has provided hydration systems to popular brands such as LBT, tactical tailor, MMI, TacProGear, and many more. The unique construction of their bladders allows them to be turned inside-out, to facilitate easier cleaning.

Recently, they’ve came out with a line of collapsible canteens in two models: the Stash and Softflask.

The Stash comes in 3/4 liter and 1 liter sizes. It’s collapsible design offers the advantage of a reduced footprint over traditional canteens systems, which maintain the same volume either empty or full.

Here’s a photo of a willing volunteer placing his full weight on a 3/4 Stash bottle.

The Softflask comes in 1/2 liter and 3/4 liter sizes.

The SplashGuard is a new product which inserts into wide mouth bottles, concentrating flow and protecting from splashback.

Hydrapak’s line of collapsible canteens are currently available at all base exchanges. However, as a special offer to SSD readers, now through June 15th take advantage of a special 50% off discount through the Hydrapak online store – use coupon code TACTICALUSER2015! to apply the discount.

Darley Defense Days – Rini Technologies – Personal Thermal Management System

Thursday, June 4th, 2015

Rini Technologies’ personal Thermal Management System is a vest system which is worn under equipment to maintain a comfortable temperature for the wearer.

It features a system of water-filled tubes which circulates through a Thermal Management Unit, a refrigeration unit that chills the water to a comfortable 72 degrees farenheit. Rini also offers a heater box for colder temperatures, which heats the water to around 100 degrees fahrenheit. These systems are powered either through a separate battery pack, or through vehicle power.

Rini has also developed a variant of the PTMS in a MilSpec desert oriented colorway, as well as a specialized TMU developed in collaboration with PEO Soldier, with a 28 volt system designed to run off aircraft power, for use with US Army Aviation.

divide-hydration-system

The Widepac D|vide is a dual-compartment hydration bladder which allows the user two sources of hydrating fluid from a single system. Available in 2L and 3L sizes, both compartments within the D|vide are flexible, designed that either alone is capable of taking up the full size of the bladder, allowing for whatever split of fluids the user wants.

The D|vide uses two different colored tubes, for identifying which tube feeds to which compartment. The most obvious use for this system is a split between water and a sports drink, although that’s ultimately up to the end user.

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

120651_legend_travel_steel_exploded_1500p

Grayl is a portable water filtration system which functions similarly to a French Press. It consists of an 18/8 stainless steel inner ‘press’ cup, the filter which attaches to the inner cup, and the BPA-free plastic outer cup. The user fills the outer cup with water, then presses the inner cup into the outer cup, where the water is then filtered and delivered into the inner cup.

Grayl offers multiple filters for use with the system. Their strongest filter, the Travel purifier, utilizes a patented triple-charged mesh which traps pathogens, natural carbon (made from coconut shells) which traps heavy metals and chemicals, and an integrated anti-microbial agent which suppresses the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria. It is guaranteed to improve taste and smell of filtered water, along with filtering out 99.999% or more of bacteria, protozoan cysts, and viruses.
