CMC Barrels Announces the Release of its New AR Barrel Line

Thursday, March 12th, 2020

Fort Worth, Texas: CMC Barrels™ is proud to announce its highly anticipated line of CMC AR Barrels. Since the 2018 inaugural launch of the CMC Glock® Match Precision Barrel, CMC has had the objective of developing a series of high-quality AR Barrels that complement their exceptional line of AR aftermarket products. The CMC Barrels™ AR Barrel line does just that.

With input received from military, law enforcement, and civilian shooters incorporated into the core engineering of their AR barrels, CMC has been able to accommodate the modern-day shooting requirements requested. Every barrel is precision, instrument-inspected for absolute straightness and air gauged for maximum uniformity, yielding the highest accuracy possible. Land and groove tolerance from breech to muzzle can vary only .0001″ for the best concentricity.

The first profiles availed will be based on the SOCOM variant. The CMC’s AR15 barrels are made from 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium, coated in H&M Blacknitride+™ for increased wear resistance, chambered in .223 Wylde so that you can feed it both .223 and 5.56 NATO ammo.

CMC’s AR15 Barrels provide a choice of gas system lengths along with M4 feed ramps for reliability, a 1:7? twist rate, 1/2?x28 thread pattern to fit standard AR15 muzzle devices, 11-degree match crown for increased accuracy and a bottom dimple for easy install and alignment of gas blocks.

CMC AR15 barrels are coated in H&M Blacknitride+™ or Ferritic Nitrocarburizing, resulting in significantly improved surface properties on ferrous metal parts while maintaining dimensional and shape stability. H&M Blacknitride+™ yields increased wear resistance, improved fatigue strength, better corrosion resistance, improved lubricity, and enhanced cosmetic appeal.

Kit Badger Discusses Q-Sert from Q

Thursday, March 12th, 2020

Our friend Ivan shared this article with us on the Q-Sert weapon accessory attachment system from Q, LLC.

Q-Sert : The Attachment Method

When it comes to methods of attaching equipment to hand guards, there is generally two different methods. You have KeyMod, which is great for shelving units, and there is M-LOK. Past that there is legacy Picatinny Rail. Q LLC has brought something new to the table though, largely under the radar, which is their Q-Sert.

Q-Sert is a method of attaching accessories to the handguard that offers a stronger mount up than M-Lok, a more repeatable zero and provides a lighter handguard at the same time. Magic right? It took a number of engineers to make it happen…

Right now Q-Sert hand guards are available on the Fix Rifle, MiniFix and Side Chick Chassis. They are currently working on AR-15 hand guards as well as more Q-Sert direct mount options.

JP Enterprises Introduces Law Tactical Series of Silent Captured Springs

Thursday, March 5th, 2020

Hugo, MN – JP Enterprises is pleased to introduce the Law Tactical series of Silent Captured Springs. This marks the first buffer spring substitution component to be named compatible by Law Tactical for use with their folding adapter.

Through a collaboration with Law Tactical, JP has developed an alternative design for their extremely popular Silent Captured Spring system that is fully compatible with Law’s Gen 3 folding stock adapter. Beyond simple function, the Law Tactical series of buffer springs reaches a previously unmet threshold for durability and safety.

“Law Tactical takes the real-world use of their stock adapter very seriously,” says JP founder and head of product development, John Paul. “While some third-parties have sold adapters to use SCS with the Law adapter, nothing met their demanding function testing regimen until now.”

Both the Silent Captured Spring and original Law Tactical folding adapter debuted in 2012 but previously lacked any true compatibility due to differing designs. Since that time, the Law Tactical folder has risen to become the premier device of its type for ultra-compact storage and transportation for rifles and AR-type pistols. JP Enterprises is pleased to have had the chance to work with an industry innovator and to provide the superior buffering function of the Silent Captured Spring for Law’s signature product.

The Law Tactical series Silent Captured Springs are available for both small-frame (AR-15) and large-frame (AR-10 platforms). Standard configurations will function in most rifles with alternate heavy buffer models optimized for specialty use such as suppressed or short-barreled rifles also available. A conversion kit to reconfigure existing Silent Captured Springs for use with the Law Tactical folder will be available soon.

As with the Law Tactical folding adapter, Brownells has signed on to serve as the premier distributor for Law Tactical series Silent Captured Springs with models available now at www.brownells.com

Titan Retention – Retention Straps Now Compatible With Zip-On Packs

Wednesday, March 4th, 2020

Titan Retention recently introduced zip-on pack compatibility for their weapon retention straps. Zip-on Packs are now standard for armor carriers. Plate carriers like the JPC 2.0, Eagle Tactical Ultra & Low-Vis, and Eagle MMAC all offer a zip on rear pack option. Until now, Titan’s retention straps would interfere with zipping on a rear pack unless it had PALS webbing on the outside, which many do not. For operators that utilize a zip-on rear pack, they now have the option to run the Titan Strap without compromising the function of zipping on a rear pack.

They did this by laser-cutting their retention straps to route through the zipper cutouts that the cummerbund straps use. The loss of strength from the cutouts in the webbing is negligible. The 1.5″ zip-on specific strap retains 1200lbs of break strength and the 2″ version retains 1425lbs of break strength. The full width of the webbing where it contacts and retains the user’s weapon is preserved meaning no loss in retention capability.

We spoke with founder Dylan Dille and he had this to say, “It’s really important to us to not interfere with how the operator prefers to run their kit and this new option opens the door to a lot more kit configurations.”
