Military Morons passed me this image of a concept boot he mocked up of a short version of the Lightfighter from the recently launched footwear brand Sand Storm. There aren’t many chukka styles on the market so this would be a welcome addition.

These look pretty nice, MM doing a great job as usual. Question, does anyone know of any combat style boots with a flat sole, ie: no / minimal heel?
Paul recommended the Danner Melee; Danner also has a good selection of other low-top boots with minimal-to-no heel.

I’m with that erick. I got a pair of short coyote SWATs in KAF for off duty and they were so comfortable I wore them out. They don’t make them that I can see, so these definetly have my attention.

I’m a civilian and I like the Chukka boot style…..keeps me looking like a civilian….and I’d also prefer it in Coyote rather than Tan as Erick indicated.

The Sandstorm boots are designed by Dan Ellis, who developed the OTB line of boots (which were then bought by NB), so most of you are already familiar with them.
I suggested a Chukka/6″ boot to Dan last week, and he’d love to do a pair (he sketched up the design already). The only thing is determining how much interest there is and getting dealers to pick it up and commit to it, before moving ahead.
Many 6″ tactical boots are a bit busy and chunky, and based mostly on hiking boots. I felt that something more streamlined (along the lines of the minimalist Chukka) than most 6″ boots, but with a more substantial sole than the Melee would be a popular choice for those who don’t need an 8″ or 9″ boot. After wearing the Lightfighter boot, I realized that it’s the perfect candidate for a 6″ version.
An updated mock-up can be seen here based on my discussions with Dan and his sketch – Dan added one more web band around the ankle and we shortened the pull loop at the back so pant cuffs don’t catch on it:

I like them. A lot. I’ve been looking for something like this for a while. A comour other than tan would be really good.
What did you use to make the mock up images? Are those real boots or are you using some kind of rendering software?

A black model for us L.E. Guys. Most of the 6″ law enforcement boots are really chunky and busy.
