#KCRF Giveaway

It’s the last day of May but already feels like summer, so how about a giveaway?

Mojo Tactical just released two new variant of the Keep Calm Return Fire logo patch in Black/Glow-in-the-dark and Black/Grey.  We’d like to give these, along with an original Blood Red patch, to a lucky reader. We’d also like to include some KCRF stickers from Tactical Distributors.

How about a throw back Thursday showing how far we have come with weapons and kit development.

    • Fly On the Wall says:

Or “Things That Sucked Thursday” featuring truly hated or hazardous pieces of issued or widely used gear.

Examples would include first generation MOLLE rucksacks, CFP-90 packs, and every pro-mask carrier I was ever issued.

  2. Fly On the Wall says:

I really appreciate the “heritage” type articles featuring the hard men of the past, their kit and TTPs, and how so many “new” ideas are really 30-70 year old concepts revisited with new materials.

And hats. Everybody with a bald spot loves a good hat.

  3. Mike Wade says:

Would highly enjoy anything on tactics. Emerging, tried and true, historic. Also, love when you publish articles on units (foreign and U.S.). Gives great perspective and challenges us to try new things.

  4. Roboknee30 says:

More info on foreign kit is always interesting. It is always good to know what other folks are doing right and to learn from what they are doing wrong.

Keep up the good work. I love this site and the articles that you publish.

  5. Mike Hotel says:

I’d like to see less of the admin’s undeservedly arrogant attitude.

I’d like to see more dissenting opinions and calling-out of people who don’t know what they’re talking about.

I’d like to see fewer Multicam-covered food blisters.

  6. Minty says:

Love everything you do already, but would love to see more weapon reviews and videos. Keep up the good work!

  7. swiss says:

I’ve been reading since my first time to AFG, love the content.

I know there are a lot of great instructors, and some of them roam for classes. As John-Q-Public now, it’s harder to keep an edge. Is there a good solution for tracking the 5Ws for these classes to see if something I need or am interested is coming up and is close to me. Or is this something that could be incorporated into gunfighter moments, or even separately called out occasionally?

It could be beneficial for all parties if instructors called out their training schedules more on SSD. (rah rah buy training, not a new gun)

Thanks for all the good work.

  8. Terry says:

I think you have your target market well covered and don’t need to change anything. I did really enjoy your article about the MOLLE water bottle/utility pouches though.

  9. Drew says:

The site rocks, I check it every day. I agree with a lot of people some reviews would be nice, but not just of one thing, like a weekly review of all the new plate carries this year against each other, or a line up of new winter jackets when fall hits, several medium sized packs against each other. Stuff like that.

  10. Zach says:

Love SSD from the first time I found it many years ago. I believe that it does what it is intended to do, inform the community. What I would like to see however is more DOD/PEO related articles, specifically in mind is actual combat or world conflict related articles with the equipment currently being used or fielded in the future. Something along the lines of, Hey! this is whats out there now and how it’s being used or employed, or this is whats in store in the next few years.

  11. Ray says:

I would like to see more in depth gunfighter moments. A regular series on individual physical training would be good also. Other than that I think you do a great job and always look forward to reading SSD. keep up the good work.

  12. Inphnity says:

I hop on here all the time for latest and greatest on equipment and Defense Industry related news and products. The one thing I would like to see more of is international defense industry stuff happening around the world. Maybe stuff on current tatics, sales report, marketing and the inside scoop on what’s happening with manufacturing in U.S. Market. Also updates on future weapons about to come to market, kind of like a future grocery list of things to come.

  13. Strike-Hold says:

I’d like to see you cover more foreign / international stuff.

  14. JPG says:

You have published a few medical articles recently that I found interesting. I would like to see more of the same. Thanks.

  15. Scott Clark says:

    Great job as is ..
I would like to be able to search by catagory.

  16. GH says:

More special giveaway, let your fans from all corner of the globe own some swag, otherwise impossible to get!

  17. mike says:

    product break-downs and reviews!

  18. mike says:

    product break-downs and reviews!

  19. Wardog 1-7 says:

I’d like to see more of the “Forces Focus” as well as more articles on the future of the US military’s camouflage debacle. I know the latter just depends on when information leaks out, but the more informed those of us who are still in can be, the faster we can relay the information up our chains to ensure highers are properly informed. (Because we all know how much they truly know all the time.)

  20. Roussly says:

I would like to see more things about medical equipment and maybe even more things about shooting as far as techniques.

  21. bluenoser says:

    Afternoon Eric,

The site is fantastic as is.

Gear, training, and broad stroke changes (re: camo & procurement) are the core of SS, and will continue to be the mainstay.

More strategic pieces on procurement systems for *how* soldier systems are procured, like Australia’s Cracking the nut, would be fantastic.

    Keep it up.

    BN

  22. SGT Rock says:

Excellent site, a daily read. If anything, additional industry news/trends.

  23. DV says:

Doing a great job as always.

If there was anything I’d like to see more of, it might be (even) more photos and entries from shows you go to. Though that’s not to say you don’t already provide amazing coverage of said cons/events.

    Keep up the good work.

  24. GP says:

You’re posts are great and what I’m looking for. I would like to see more content posted daily and more of a lean to some gray man gear postings and reviews

  25. Stephen says:

SSD – great site like reviews of kit / tech. Maybe more in the EOD side of the house. Daily website review…along with coffee in the mirning

  26. Psycho says:

I’d like to see more about handguns and holsters. Thumbs up anyway for SSD!

  27. Snakedoc03 says:

Im very happy about what you post on ssd. So no need to change anything. Some more reviews about kits and clothing would be appreciated but not nessasary. Do it like u did it so far. It’s the best gear site on the Internet ????????????

  28. Snakedoc03 says:

  29. Robert says:

I would like to see more EDC and EMT type gear reviews!

  30. Rob says:

I’d like to see more training posts and more of the excellent spot-lighting of problems such as the camo improvement effort.

  31. Chuck says:

Filter out more of the stupid comments

  32. My Lying Eyes says:

More tales of the gun by bravo company.

  33. Tim says:

I really enjoy the site I prob look at it a half dozen time a day to see if I’ve missed something or a new post has been added… I would like to see more post on individual gear.

    Keep up the good work.

  34. Shooter says:

    great site already…

  35. Hobbit says:

Not trying to kiss up, but I really like what you do now. Only thing I can think of that I would like to see more of is knife stuff, but that is a very niche thing…

  36. BrknCylncr says:

Feature (or sponsor) a 3-gun Competition that starts off with a night Parachute Jump onto an LZ next to a Parking Lot of urban tactical vehicles from Mad Max. Given a time constraint, 20 initial competitors use the vehicles to conduct a mounted land navigation course to find necessary ammo for the 3-gun competition (consider an urban and desert environment such as Fort Irwin, National Training Center or 29 Palms). First 10 shooters that find their ammo and get to the first stage, must then shoot the 10 stage 3-gun event. The stages feature targetry that also has simunition/paintball devices that actually shoot back at the competitor, time penalty for getting hit. Fastest time wins… The fun can stop there, or ALSO have the Top 5 competitors conduct an American Ninja-like event. And finally, the top 2 competitors have to get in the Octagon and fight it out in a 5 minute no-rules slug fest. FEATURE THAT AND YOU GUYS WIN THE BEST WEBSITE EVER!

  37. JSizzle says:

SSD does a fantastic job covering a wide variety of gear and weapons already. As a Police Officer, I would love to see a few more articles on new equipment/gear/weapons with the LEO community in mind. I also would support an SSD-style website dedicated to new and upcoming LEO stuff. I check SSD religiously more than any other LE website (policemag, policeone, officer, etc) because of the consistent updates, new articles, and useful gear that is posted. Keep doing what you’re doing and we will keep supporting the site. Thanks for all you do for everyone SSD.

  38. Ipkiss says:

I’d like to see independant reviews or side-by side comparisons. And I would love to see more coverage of European news but that might be hard.

If I win, please use a more durable envelope than the previous one which tore up because of foul weather. Still no KCRF..

  39. Dan says:

    More Gunfighter moments.

  40. ninjapig says:

BDA from Ops as told by troops in the field. (LEO & military)

  41. Riastradh says:

More on prototypes and a retrospective look on old ideas or concepts that may have application in the 21st Century.

As it is, SSD rocks – please keep up the exceptional work.

  42. N Jarvis says:

As a non-veteran or military reader, more LE related articles.

  43. This guy says:

I’d like to see posts on things like field craft, lessons learned, and improvisation on the battlefield. It could be veterans sharing ideas and how they tackled various problems they have faced on their respective battlefields. Given enough time maybe it can be used as a repository of information to be shared between generations of service members to battle the chronic institutional CRS that is so pervasive in our military. Case in point is the Army’s sudden interest in jungle warfare again. It would be good to hear from Vietnam era veterans on how they operated in the jungle. Everything isn’t always in an FM or TC.

  44. zac says:

I agree with AC’s post above! I love the content on SSD and would love to see the format/ regularity of content adapted to the law enforcement and domestic operations side of the house. Also, I would love to see the external links in the articles open another tab instead of loading over SSD. Small detail.

  45. T says:

More SERE/”gray man” products, and potentially more articles such as gunfighter moment and the recent one on home defense

But really it’s all good, and I love the content that’s being posted.

  46. Kango says:

More behind the scenes look at companies design processes. IE what sets them apart from others.

  47. Ryoushin says:

I’d like to see a monthly spotlight on local veteran charities. I think supporting those in your backyard is better than giving to the national ones that spend their funds on their own salaries.

  48. IhateUCP says:

Less geardo things and more “Soldier systems”. The geardo stuff would be great for the LE site if you can find someone; I know some readers do find it useful.

I enjoy it when you keep PEO honest and you’re a better distributor of information than the actual Army is. Try to keep that up.

  49. BARGAIN says:

A Reddit-type Ask Me Anything of industry executives, designers, trainers, etc. Readers could submit their questions and SSD could post the AMA. Readers want to know what goes on behind the scenes or the deeper story behind things.

  50. Lamont says:

    More giveaways!
