A recent article published by the Daily Mail shows London Metro Police outfitted in the latest equipment supplied by Edgar Brothers, Arc’teryx LEAF uniforms and SIG SAUER MCX rifles, the latter of which were missidentified within the article as G36s.

I’m stationed in the UK and this is the attitude towards people with guns. It is a real phobia. There was a legitimate a, non-duffle blog article about customers in a grocery store getting hot and bothered because a police officer had the nerve to buy a sandwich while wearing not only his gun but his taser and oc spray. When I talk to locals there is a pretty hostile change in demeanor when I mention I’m a gun owner. I keep my ambassador hat on but it’s kind of depressing how these people equate guns with evil.
I think that sandwich and sidearm incident was Scotland, which seems to be the Ferguson of Great Britain.
Regardless, it is unfortunate there is a serious loss of personal responsibility and military spirit in the society of whole. Still some real warriors on the Island.
You’re bang on there mate, here it’s an eye opener to see armed cops, firearms are not really in our DNA unlike you Americans or even other Europeans so people do get het up over them, saying that though the DM is renowned for mis reporting and trying to drum up outrage.
It sounds like DM is right in line with some of own home-grown hyperbolic, shit-stirring media outlets. That anti-gun phobia is creeping evermore into our larger cities. It isn’t as pervasive, but it’s growing, unfortunately.
That’s a whole different level of hopolophobia than we’re used to in the states if even police with guns create incidents.
The societal attitude towards guns is very important in fighting gun control. This makes me wonder even more about all the news coverage of police shootings.
It’s mainly the Fabian socialists that have destroyed the UK.
England’s protestant roots had the right to honnest self defense (the right to own a sword and a crossbow abd later a gun). Even some English socialists like Eric Blair (1984 author) were pro gun.
Americans are basically English people who are left alone. Even though that is sadly starting to change aswell.

Small note nobody calls the Metropolitan Police “Metro” in the UK it is shortened to “the Met” (Metro tends to mean a public transport system).
They certainly used to have a good line of “You’ve met the Met” stickers they tagged everything with when deployed on mutual aid public order.
I know this article is not about the news article, but god the Mail are a bunch of reactionary morons.
