Spartan117GW – Interview With Travis Haley – The Rift Between Airsoft And Real Steel

Sunday, April 19th, 2015

Spartan117GW recently traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona to visit Haley Strategic. While there, Spartan spoke to the man himself, Travis Haley, to ask his opinion on the rift between Airsoft/MilSim and Real Steel. It’s definitely worth a watch, especially if you’re a fan of Airsoft, or you’re a firearms enthusiast.

“Stand your ground. Don’t fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here.”

Sunday, April 19th, 2015

On this day, some 240 years ago, John Parker, Captain of Militia, uttered those instructions to his men as they stood on Lexington Green, ready, if need be, to engage 500 British troops set to sieze the militia’s arsenal.

What may have begun as a show of force on the side of the militia soon became an active firefight as the British advance guard met a percieved provocation with demands to disperse. The fog of war set in and a firefight soon broke out. The Colonist militia quickly gained the upper hand and drove a British force which over the course of the day had grown to 1700, all the way back to Charlestown and beyond. What wouod ultimately become the siege of Boston, happened over a year before the Declaration of Independence.

We owe these men our very nation. Their sheer determination in the face of tyranny embodies the American spirit. Please join me in honoring their memory this Patriot’s Day.

Gunfighter Moment – Larry Vickers

Saturday, April 18th, 2015

Most handgun fights occur within 10 meters so common sense tells you that you need to be an accurate and fast shooter at these distances. Keep this in mind when training and setting up your drills – shooting past 10 meters is absolutely recommended but a bit misguided for newer shooters that struggle at closer ranges.

Bottom line always remember what you are trying to accomplish and what the end game is; survival. Keep your training relevant and real.

Introduces rescue swimmer flotation, high visibility dry suits and thermal protection

BELLINGHAM, Washington – Mustang Survival® announced today that it will be expanding its suite of water rescue solutions. Driven by end-user inputs and engagement, the suite will now include products designed to enable previously unreachable levels of performance.

To allow swift water rescue professionals to focus on the task at hand instead of worrying about their own safety, Mustang Survival is introducing the following new products:

Rescue Swimmer Vest – Hailed as the first rescue swimmer vest to turn a compliance device into a tactical piece of equipment that actually helps get the job done. Designed for the performance-driven public safety water professional who can’t afford to be impeded by extra gear, this vest blends two of Mustang Survival’s core competencies – inflatable flotation and foam flotation – to offer a slim profile flotation solution. Model # MRV170.

High Visibility Dry Suits – Two favorites will soon be available in high visibility fluorescent yellow-green. The station-use Swift Water Rescue Dry Suit and the Sentinel™ Series Swift Water Rescue Dry Suit will soon be the first ever dry suits made of military-grade fluorescent yellow-green GORE-TEX® fabric. Extensive field testing has proven these suits to be more visible in a rescue environment than any other. Model #s MSD576 and MSD624.

Thermal Base Layers – Designed as part of a full thermal management system, these two new base layer options have been constructed for optimal compatibility with Mustang Survival dry suits. Available in a midweight and lightweight version, each solution will be offered as a two-piece set made of the highest quality Polartec® materials to provide optimal flexibility based on mission profile. Model #s MSL602, MSL603, MSL604, MSL605.

Headwear – Keep the head warm, keep the body warm. A ball cap and fitted toque will soon be available to keep cold temperatures at bay. The toque is designed to be worn on land or under your helmet for cold weather operations. Model #s MSL606, MA7000.

“Our team is committed to supporting elite water rescue professionals in their pursuit of unobstructed performance,” said Dave Abt, Public Safety Business Development of Mustang Survival. “This new product suite not only takes care of their safety, it augments their abilities to put performance at the forefront of every mission.”
