These kits consist of plate carriers and in-conjunction hard armor plates for use over existing soft armor vests. In the case of Kit A, you’ll also get soft armor backers for the plates. Either carrier can be quickly donned when threat level increases to go beyond soft armor protection. Ample MOLLE/PALS webbing give you the ability to add additional, mission specific, pouches. The both also use TYR’s PV material which offers significant weight reduction with increased resistance to abrasion. PV has been tested to have 7-10 times higher abrasion resistance than standard mil-spec nylon. PV also enhances the ballistic attributes of armor within the vest. Antimicrobial/FR treated padded spacer mesh is used internally for comfort.

That’s entirely possible, I wasn’t really accusing one way or another just stating an observation.
Well to be honest there are really only so many ways to do something that works. The more you strip something down to basics, the fewer ways there really are to differentiate between designs. At its simplest it’s just 2 pockets sized & shaped to hold the plates with 2 shoulder straps to hold them up and some sort of waistband to hold them in place.
LE only? Armor isn’t illegal to own in most states, specifically AZ where Tyr is located so not sure why your restricting purchases from law abiding US Citizens. Shame
On another note, there are much cheaper alternatives for a US made carrier and same NIJ rating plates out there.
It’s probably because assholes are targeting police and TYR is offering a discounted price to those who are being murdered.

I made comment of Tyr limiting sales to LEO/LEA when they announced sale of them – was told if I had a letter of consent from my CLEO, I could purchase. Because, America. M855 is a US .mil loading of NATO 5.56 ball. SS109 is the actual projectile, the bullet used in the cartridge.
