    Thank you for this post, SSD. Decided to watch both Larry’s AK-47 and his AK-74 video – both are truly a marvel to watch! The slo-mo sequences are jaw-dropping. What amazed me was; even without without their gas-tubes, both AK rifles continued to fire and cycle(albeit a bit slower as without their gas-tubes present, their gas-rods took a fraction of a second more to rattle around and finally re-seat). Many kudos to Larry Vickers for yet another amazing ‘inside’ video!! Thank again, SSD!!!

      The gas tube wasn’t completely removed, otherwise it wouldn’t function. Only the rear portion was removed. The initial pressure release up until that point is all it takes to push the bolt backwards. The rest is just a tube to keep the rod in place.
