Great idea but .5 to .75 pound for an empty pouch is fat. Skeletonize and get some alternative materials working. Helium Whisper comes to mind.
you think they’d find a better release mechanism than a fastex buckle.
There is nothing better than a fastex for quick release then easy stow
Why do you want easy stow IFAK? Isn’t the IFAK ideally supposed to be used on yourself? Unless you’re an MOH caliber guy then I can’t really see why you need that quick stow feature after you’ve been treated for a combat related injury..
But, I do assume that these are just IFAKs to fill basic unit orders and were never intended to be revolutionary in any way so I guess they are spot on.
First-spear version has an elastic hook system and it is a lot cleaner and lighter

I would also like to know why they went with 500d when their own material is supposed to be lighter and stronger.
Agreed. I think they could have gone with 300d or Litelock on the places that are covered up when the pouch is stowed.
Their own material is 500d stuck to aramid
That’s interesting, as in exactly like an IFAK Raine made specifically for an AFSOC order a couple years ago when Will and Dan were doing the designingfor Raine Black.
Then they disbanded and the customers that approached Raine went to like 5 other vendors and asked for the same thing. I guess TYR could just tell those guys to fuck off because they didn’t want to infringe on IP that doesn’t exist.
I don’t know the details of the split. Those two guys were effective, forward, and properly spun up. They were awesome to work with. One of them recently returned to AD, and the country is better for it.
Good deal. My comment wasn’t saying anything negative about those guys, just that when they left their customers went to others in industry and requested similar items. Good on him for getting back into the fight!
