UF PRO’s Boonie Hat Gen 2 features a stiffener in the brim, Mesh sections in the crown as well as an Internal pocket as well as a draw cord. Additionally, there is Velcro for IR patches.
The Boonie Hat Gen 2 will be available later this Spring in the whole line of UF PRO colorways.
Update: here’s another photo for those of you who couldn’t discern the difference between the hat and background.
I wish UF PRO would introduce A-TACS FG.
Man that looks like a big hat. Who is taking these pictures.
Maybe he has a small head.
He DOES have a small head! (Take a skinny 12-year-old for reference.)
The first photo looks like he’s wearing a MultiCam keffiyeh.
Here’s a free idea for boonie hat makers: on-board MOSQUITO NET!
I once saw a very old new-stock (1960’s?) USAF tropical hat that was an odd combination of boonie hat and snap-brim Aussie style…almost like one of those Army female drill instructor hats. The cool and highly useful feature was a MOSQUITO NET stored up inside the crown, in a little pouch made of the same net fabric. There are places in the world where you simply cannot function without insect protection (Labrador bush in black fly season?)
And, BTW, mosquito and other insect netting must be made of a very specific sized weave, or it ain’t for real. Most manufacturers and buyers get this wrong!
That is an excellent idea.
Sabre from Germany makes this. The net is completely integrated into the crown, so you really forget it’s there when you’re not using it.
I got one and have been using it for years the you describe.
Displaying the MultiCam boonie while standing in front of the MultiCam clad mannequin was maybe not the best choice.
Welcome to Trade Show photos. The crowd of military and police everywhere wasn’t a great choice either. I suppose if you can’t discern the difference between the hat and background, you ought to see a doctor.
