WITH TARSIER ECLIPSE

The Tarsier Eclipse ™ is the most advance Night Vision Goggle accessory on the market. It easily attaches to your NVG’s allowing the operator to see objects from 18” to infinity at the same time without adjustments!

It incorporates a smooth action, high performance optical iris that can be adjusted open or closed depending on the amount of light. Not only does this accessory save time in critical situations it also protects your lenses from getting scratched or damaged during your mission.

If the glass on the Tarsier Eclipse ™ gets damaged you can simply pop it out with your fingers and insert a new one!

Don’t forget to tune in on Monday at 4:30 PM EST on Instagram as we do a live demonstration our Tarsier Eclipse!

I think C3PO eyes every time I see theses.

  2. Sunny says:

I own the Phokus Hoplite and always wonder if these more heavy solution worths it – anyone who can share his expedience comparing both, the Hoplite vs. the Tarsier Eclipse?

    Thanks

    • Steve says:

I have both, the Eclipse is significantly better but only worth the premium price if you’ve got cash to burn. One downside on the PVS-14 is that the adjustment nubbin will cause a shadow if using the IR illuminator on the monocular (pretty much no matter how you clock it on the front lens). Also, remember that twisting the Eclipse must be done carefully or you’ll change the front optic focus, too.

I think on a binocular system, I’d find the Eclipse annoying compared to a simple flip-up system like the Hoplite.

I run Binos – and the reason you mention is what is holding me back: I think it is too busy to play around with adj. Focus Rings on Binos. As I run on auto-gain, but consider to get a manual-gain Bino too, I think I get the better trade of when compared to the Tarsier Eclipse with bothering the same amount of time adjusting?
Whats your opinion on this scenario and comparison?

        Thanks

These are heavier, but give you more adjustment depending on the available ambient light.

has anyone compared these to drilling a hole in the center of the lens covers? is it worth it?

    • Chuck says:

Yes, I’ve used both. The hole in the lens cover is a quick fix, but this really allows you to adjust according to the amount of light which the drilled hole does not. This gives you more options and is built like a tank like all Matbock items. Are they worth it? Yes- if you have the cash flow. I didn’t buy mine, just have the luxury of getting to use them.

Depends on what you want to get out of it.

Being able to dial in the amount of light allows for more finely tuned clarity. If you’re looking for the easy button, flip down a cap with a hole. If you would like more control and your mission requires you to be able to focus on things near and far and adjust to make sure focus is achieved you’ll need the Tarsier Eclipse.

The analogy I use most often is Sightmark Ghosthunters vs any legit dualtube night visions system. Do they both “do the same thing?” yes(ish) but only a madman would claim the Ghosthunters are “the same” and “better because they’re cheaper”.
