Adopted by USSOCOM as the AN/PVS-31A, the L3Harris BNVD has been in use by U.S. Special Operations Forces for several years as well as allied forces, however they have not been widely available on the commercial market.

The L3Harris BNVD is one of the lightest binocular night vision systems on the market, with unparalleled optical performance with lightweight optical lens assemblies optimized to maximize the performance of the Unfilmed 2376+ FOM (figure of merit) White Phosphor image intensifier tubes, and features both an onboard AA battery and an external power connector to be used with an external power supply.

These systems will be available and ship direct from TNVC in early-February 2021 with the complete 4x AA Cold Weather Battery Pack and 25” BNVS power cable with full factory warranty and customer support*. Each unit will also come with factory image intensifier Tube Data Records with a minimum figure of merit (FOM) of 2376.

These units are NOT contract overruns—these are brand new manufactured units, and they will be available as regular stocking units from TNVC, though demand is expected to be extremely high.

The L3Harris BNVD retails at $13,700 and is available for order now at:

Hands down my favorite NOD’s, if ya get them make sure you use the energizer lithium’s so u don’t get a low memory buildup

  2. Dan says:

Could you please elaborate on ‘low memory build up’? Do you have a link to documented issue? Interested as we use an off-brand lithium battery in our department.

    • JK says:

no I don’t have links or nothing credible to “link” to other than my humble experiences and some knowledge gleaned from some very experienced SF guys. upon being issued the 31’s a TTP that was offered to me was to only use Lithium batteries because the 31’s upon their first several uses will remember the amount of charge in standard alkaline AA’s and then wont be as fully capable as if you had used the lithium’s which last much longer. (shrugs) I dunno, its worked for me and the guys on our teams that ive talked to about it…

      • Jimbo says:

For me, and my -31s, alkaline are more likely to corrode and fuck the internals. That’s why I choose lithium. That and a combination of switching them out very frequently.
