SIG SAUER - Never Settle

Shield Arms Folding Lower Receiver: New Configurations

The Shield Arms Folding Lower Receiver (FLR) is now available in pistol, rifle, and stripped lower configuration. As originally reported at the time of the first release (and as the name portends), the FLR is a fully-folding lower receiver that does not require an adapter.

This lower is a patent-pending billet AR-15 lower receiver with a folding stock mechanism machined and built directly into the receiver, allowing the stock or pistol brace to fold without the need of an aftermarket folding adapter.

Each respective configuration is detailed below.

The folding mechanism and release look exactly like 17 Design and Manufacturing, who coincidentally did some project development work for Shield Arms. Is this a licensed copy of the IFLR with some style changes?

    • Chris says:

Actually Shield has the original patent and 17 has a variant. A few others do as well. But yes both of the companies partner up with designs and have an excellant working relationship. For Summers below the BCG does not come flying out the back of the receiver if you fire it. However it is not designed to be shot with the stock folded as this is still a DI system.

Haven’t the Z-M Weapons patents not run out by now? A folder that shoots out the bolt carrier out the back when folded is still a dumb idea.
