Rampart Range Day 21 – Mechanixwear Nickelbacks

Mechanixwear Nickelbacks are sweat absorbing nitrile gloves. They cost a little more than standard disposable gloves but the flock lining makes all the difference in the world when you’re putting them on and wearing them for any length of time. Additionally, they are biodegradable. Sold in boxes of 50.

Mechanixwear products are available for unit and agency orders within Canada from Rampart International.

That is awesome! Any idea where they are made?

      Looks like China.

The sad reality is that the US has lost so much rubber manufacturing infrastructure, that China is one of the few places that is still doing it at a scale that supersedes most other places in the world. And it is only going to get worse, until our government makes a conscious decision to keep the EPA from destroying industries that contribute to the US industrial base, which includes PPE manufacturing here in the US. A huge example of this is that the current US military chemical protective boots and gloves are both manufactured in Canada. This is because we lack the infrastructure to make them here. The positive is that Canada is a friendly nation an in North America, but we are missing out on putting Americans back to work in this industry, because of EPA regulations and inflation, which are both byproducts of government overreach.

It’s not just EPA. EPA puts people out of business using Part 112 of the Clean Air Act aka. the Risk Management Program for Extremely Hazardous Chemicals list. OSHA tag teams companies with the Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations. They two sets of regulations are very similar but just different enough to make compliance with both agencies exponentially more difficult.

I’ve helped companies design and implement compliance with these regulatory burdens only to watch them fold in 1-3 years from never ending paperwork and mandatory gotcha inspections and fines. Only huge corporations have pockets deep enough to hire whole departments of regulatory compliance staff to keep up with the BS. I watched in the early 2000s as the government completely exterminated small to medium fertilizer dealers and manufacturers from the industry. Enjoy your expensive groceries.

That is applied capitalism. Build a monopoly or oligopoly and hold it at all cost.

      Either Thailand or China.

Jeez, I am extremely disappointed at the lack of Nickelback jokes here.

“Would you say that these gloves are… Silver Side Up?”
