Streamlight SpeedLocker

Although it’s been around for awhile, SHOT Show was the first time I had run across the SpeedLocker from Streamlight. It’s a low cost, simple-to-use, pistol locker which can be chained to a static point for additional security. Access is via a mechanical keypad with one-handed access and no batteries required.

Designed to fit up to a G19-sized handgun and spare magazine, the interior padded for transport.

Been looking for a small mechanical safe that doesn’t rely on batteries. Looks like we have a winner.

I was excited until I just went to the website and it only allows a possible 31 different combinations. It is a single press of any combination of the 5 keys.

If you’re a parent, this would not keep any curious kids out unless they were maybe a toddler. Even then, the kid could easily “luck out” and do a single press of the combo.

I understand these types of lock boxes aren’t meant to keep a determined thief out, but it would not take very long at all to try all 31 possible combos.

I was hesitant to try the Stop Box for a similar reason, but even they had 81 possible combinations. Sadly, I think the only option is a heavier simplex lock box.
