CANSEC 24 – Millbrook Tactical

Millbrook Tactical represents OAC Skinbased for the tactical market in Canada and they have released a 160 cm version of their popular military ski.

The extra length helps it to float better over the snow. Additionally, AOC Skinbased skis feature an integrated skin to facilitate uphill movements.

Great concept which has a place in a country where there are units of trained ski troops (ie not really the US). Strength is the ability to use a variety of true polar (super warm) boots for ski march. Binding is 2lbs though. Voile is US made (Utah) and very lightweight with tech bindings, or tele if you’re nuts. Good luck finding the boot though. For ops in the extreme NS latitudes, someone ought to make a tech binding equipped polar boot (1/2 or 3/4 shank) and/or provide a service to “tech-bindingize” boots you send them, there are so many different boot preferences and mission rqmts. I’ve made a pair of (full shank) Millet DIY dynafit compatible from a pair I took up on an early season McKinley (aka Denali) that kinda work for skinning with heavy pack…but I’m no boot maker and they ski like shite.
BTW SSD, it’s OAC, not AOC…..maybe a Freudian slip. She got a tier 1 rack but No-Go on the ol Crazy-Hot matrix.
