Over the last week several press releases have come out claiming that their company’s rifle has been selected for use United Kingdom Police Firearms Units. Since there are more than one, it has naturally led to some confusion.

The truth of the matter is that six models in 5.56mm from different manufacturers were approved for purchase in a framework which allows the the 50 individual units or so, to select the firearm from a list which they feel is best for their use.
The carbines approved are:
– KAC KS-1 KS-3
– Glock AR
– Beretta NARC
– IWI Tavor ARAD
– Colt Canada C8
– FN ASR
If the individual unit would like something else, they’ll have to run their own competition.
Finally, the framework did not include optics so units will have to either adapt what they already have or purchase new models.
update – we based the list on data we had received from industry sources in the UK and updated it once we were notified the list was inaccurate. No official announcement has been made.

Not entirely accurate.
Please give us the correct info.
Sorry for the delay, I didn’t want to reveal any privileged info but TFB have since reported the correct list. It was the Tavor and KS-1 that were incorrect.
Police services may select any of these;
GLOCK GR-115 (top-ranked)
FN ASR
IWI ARAD
Beretta NARP
Colt C8
Knights KS-3
the UK police authorized to use the Tavor? I have questions about that
It was actually the ARAD.
Too bad British police officers have to make phone calls for protection when faced with armed criminal or terrorists. By the time the “armed police” show up the unarmed police could be dead, if facing serious killer. But the UK has been pretty much brainwashed by now.
Interesting to see the Sig MCX line up(s) absent. Does anyone know why, despite the obvious conjecture?
Many of those departments already have them as .300 BLK guns.
