Arc’teryx is expanding their footwear line with the introduction of a trail running shoe, the Norvan VT (North Vancouver, Vertical Terrain).
Available with or without GORE-TEX lining, it incorprates their 360º Support System made of internal and external components such as to toe lacing which helps position the shoe for a mid foot strike. The Norvan VT has a 9mm drop and weighs 11 ounces.

Looks a lot like the Salomon S-Lab series. Toe looks too pointy though.
Might be cause they are both owned by Amer Sports? I’d just make a wild guess that someone from Salomon came to Arc’teryx to be in charge of the whole footwear department, and using the same supplychains and vendors just make sense.
Arc’teryx’s shoe manager is Federico Sbrissa, who has never worked for another Amer brand. He was a boot designer at Garmont, and then ran shoe design at Salewa/Dynafit. My understanding was Arc’teryx brought him in so that their product line would be fundamentally different from other Amer brands.
Anyone else saw some Prada design resemblance on 2nd photo?

Too much heel drop at 9mm. Get it down to 4-5 and I might consider trying one.
Agree with DJ. If I want aggressive tread, my Inov 8 Roclites are more aggressive for the 9mm drop that I take as a penalty. I wish a Merrell trail glove with 4-5mm drop AND aggressive tread was a thing. Maybe need to look at Salomons. (haven’t)
agreed, other then that looks pretty good. Guess I’m sticking to Altra for the time being.
High drop is because these are meant as a vertical or sky running shoe. Scrambling up steep terrain benefits from the extra stack/drop height. Other companies like Hoka and Salewa solve the problem by rockering the sole a little so you can angle uphill better.
I purchased a new pair of Salomon’s a month or so ago. Nice Gore-Tex mid. NOT good near a campfire! One small spark, instant hole melted thru! LEATHER for me. I should have kept that in mind when I spent my money.

The combo of campfire and most modern sporting equipment is not a good idea.
Keep your Shell jacket/pants, down, primaloft etc etc etc away from open fire, sparks will make holes in such materials, shouldn’t come as a surprise for anyone..
Yup. I stick to wool, etc. I just dipshited it and forgot/didn’t think about the kicks. Think before you turn on the fire!
