After years of working on and with small teams that use these mines regularly, the Magpul staff decided that there had to be a more practical and efficient way to do it.
They ditched the wire reel, and drawing on their mountaineering and riverine experience decided on a design similar to a rope throw bag. The blasting cap and firing wire is routed through a large grommet on the bottom of the bag, then secured in the static free blasting cap pocket on the tarp. When stored, the tarp separates the firing wire from the firing device in the same pocket. The mine itself is stored in a separate pocket, along with a stake, grease pencil, and range card. Handy right?

Platatac has a great Claymore pouch that comes with their Z-ALICE ruck but it wouldn’t be as fast on retrieval as the Magpul rig. I think it’d be faster on set up though.

Instead of promoting and concentrating resources on this nearly worthless Claymore bag, I’d like to see MAGPUL put a fire under the already delayed release of the UBR GEN 2 stock.
Is this the direction MAGPUL is headed ? Textile items made overseas and firearms accessories being put on the backburner ? Seems they’re changing priorities.
Guess what I used my last deployment? Fucking Claymores. And the issue bag sucks.

I’ll second that, Chris. These look sweet. I’ll be buying one as soon as they show up with retailers. I imagine they’ll be popular here at Bragg. I do wonder if there’s any application to the newer shock tubed claymores though…

I don’t work with claymores, and instantly thought that this is a great product, for those who need it. I started imagining uses for storing HF wire antennas. (types you hang in a tree).

As a recon guy my last gig in the army, I would have paid a lot for this. It would have made actions at the LP/OP, hide/surve and long halt a hell of a lot easier. Good on them. Why are we bashing a company that us more focused on helping soldiers rather than making as much money as they can?
i can see why civvies would be irked that Magpul developed something that is not targeted at them. Good on Magpul for doing something explicitly for the warfighter

It’s not ITAR restricted.. Magpul simply chooses not to deal with non-US orders- but they do have dealers which is where you’ll get their stuff.
We don’t have an efficient small order export process right now when ordering direct, unfortunately. Whether it’s ITAR controlled items, Commerce controlled items, or whatever, we are watched very, very carefully because of the nature of our main product line. We are working on that, with a bunch of moves towards ease of doing international business on all fronts, but we’re not there yet.
As for the UBR, a lot of the SHOT show announcements have been delayed by increased demand. It’s difficult to schedule first article, pilot, etc., production runs, especially on machined items, with the current crazy schedule of trying to meet demand. Plus, they are all piling up, and we’re already working extra shifts, but we’ll get it done. And no, the soft goods folks are not the same folks putting together the UBRs and they are not the same folks making videos, etc. The product sides are independent. We are continuing to work very diligently on firearms related products, and we’ve got a lot of interesting things coming. All of the products announced at SHOT 2016 will be shipping over the next few months. We are working on the shipping announcements and building shippable quantities of many of them right now.
The issue is that most of their products are ITAR controlled.
