Beginning immediately, Lipsey’s is selling LAV serialized RTF2 framed GLOCK 17 and GLOCK 19 pistols in classic black. They come equipped with Wilson Combat sights, which now include an all new gold bead front. In addition, Larry Vickers again taps Tango Down to produce the extended mag release, slide catch, magazine base plates, grip plug with integral disassembly tool and allen wrench for rear sight adjustment.
This new Vickers Tactical Lipsey’s Exclusive GLOCK bolsters the tactical color triangle that also includes grey and flat dark earth with some added extras. Larry Vickers had this to say about this latest venture, “The most requested color for the Vickers GLOCKs from Lipsey’s is black by a wide margin. After careful consideration, we decided to mount a gold bead front sight with an otherwise black pistol. The combination is striking to say the least.”
This third rendition of Lipsey’s Exclusive Vickers GLOCKs continues to be the distributor’s centerpiece of tactical offerings. Vice President and Product Development Manager Jason Cloessner was as eager to add classic black to the fold. “The LAV GLOCK series is one of our most requested products. Are these Gen 4’s besides the frame?
Looking at the roll marks, recoil spring and grip, I’d say Gen 3.
They are Gen 3 RFT2 with upgrades.
I am also curious, is there any real advantage to plugging the grip? If Larry wanted it, I am sure he has a purpose so I would be interested to know the advantages that he sees. I love that he chooses the RTF2 Frames. I have a RTF2 G17 with Gills and its may favorite unmodified Glock.
Grip plugs came about to help prevent sand/debris/cheetos from shutting down the gun. Personally, I think they make reloads faster and prevent some pinching for those of us with XL hands.

I wonder how many holsters will or won’t accommodate that front sight, and do they know that gold/brass beads have been put on blue/black posts for quite a while.
I’d be surprised if a holster didnt work with it. I’ve used my fde lav glock with a few holsters and never had a problem.
If there are functional improvements none were stated in the essay.
Cosmetics.
I would say the functional improvement is the RTF2 texture and extended controls and other accessories.

RTF2 Frame with vertical grasping groves (not available elsewhere).
If you like the various Vickers Tango Down upgrades, and the RTF2 frame, which is the closest thing to factory stippling ever done by Glock, the VICKERS edition is a good value.
Downsides? No front grasping grooves on slide and there are finger grooves.
If you do not like or want the Tango Down upgrades, you are getting them for free anyway, so don’t install them and sell them. The price of the after-market sights, which come installed, make it worth it.
On the other hands, if you don’t like RTF2 or the sights, then don’t buy this handgun. It is not for you. And for those who feel compelled to diss these firearms, to you I’ll just say, “Cool story, bro.”

I’ll be sticking with the LE/MIL priced G17s, and adding on Trijicon sights as needed. However, good for Vickers if he can make money working different angles.
I stick to the le pricing as well, but I am a glock nut and bought several vickers to be put away for collecting. I collect anything glock. I think these versions were meant to attract collectors, rather than anyone else…
