The patented FightLite® MCR® – Mission Configurable Rifle is an 8.5 lb weapon featuring gas piston operation, a 3-second quick change barrel system and has the capability to feed from both M27-linked ammunition belts and standard AR15/M16 box magazines at user discretion.

I’d love to see an ergonomic analysis, and scientifically controlled shooting experiment, to compare the “old fashioned” style of stock to the “modern” stock-and-pistol grip configuration. Accuracy, speed, maneuverability, etc.
Also consider any handling/shooting differences between the “full-power” of battle rifles and the “intermediate-power” of assault rifles in both stock configurations.
I think the best unofficial study has been the rise of AR-like ergos on precision/LR bolt gun chassis systems and their popularity in competition.
