Wait, so why would I want to run this when the M600DF does 1200 lumens on CR123s and 1500 on a rechargeable—all in what looks like the exact same body?
Good points but it does look like its the standard, old style scout body, not the slightly wider diameter body the DF uses.
I wondered the same thing. I’m just glad SF didn’t try to pull a fast one and release this model first, then turn around and drop the M600DF six months later and force early adopters to upgrade all over again.
This is curious. Can someone in the know chime in and let me know what I’m missing.

Why is this product using a dual battery tube? Durability and style aside, What does that extra battery offer that the X300 does not have?
Put a different way, why is this not a single battery (300 series) scout? Or a longer run time?
The X-300U also uses two 123 batteries.
X300 series is a dual battery light for pistol applications. You’ve confused it with the M300 series, which is the single battery scout variant.
