U.S. Marines with 3d Reconnaissance Battalion, 3d Marine Division conduct an M18 pistol live-fire range at Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan. This routine training enables Marines to maintain proficiency in marksmanship and close combat. The M18 Modular Handgun System is a striker-fired, semi-automatic, 9-mm pistol. Fielded in 2020, the M18 will replace all other pistols in the Marine Corps inventory, including the M9, M9A1, M45A1 and M007.
The M18 falls under our Portfolio Manager Ground Combat Element Systems. PfM GCES provides and sustains fully integrated kinetic weapon systems and equipment to increase the lethality of our Marines.

Crazy they’re still using FROG’s.
I’m pretty sure it’s because its a combat shirt, and not a full blouse. The FR aspect isn’t a priority at the moment. Plus the FROG stuff is organizational gear, so it doesn’t require personal funds to replace. And ill bet there is a ton of that stuff at CIF.
I meant because of how poorly they’re designed, assembled, and sewn.
Good on them. I’m still befuddled why the Army alone went with the M17; I think the M18 is a much more practical (in addition to being smaller and lighter) weapon system.
Should’ve done a clean sweep across DoD of all M18s!
Honestly Recon running X300’s would be more of reason for them to have M17’s over the 18’s.
